Gamers Community of BUBT

Three students from the 45th Intake of the Department of Economics—Chayan Devnath Mishu, Md. Moshiur Rahman, and Md. Abdul Mottalib—recently participated in an international conference on the Culture and Creative Industries in Bangladesh hosted by Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB). The team conducted their research under the supervision of Tahmina Akter, Assistant Professor of the same department.

The students presented their paper, “Content Creation and Gaming Industry: Youth Employment Opportunity and Economic Constraints,” on April 9, 2026. Based on a survey of 265 respondents, their study identified high equipment costs and social pressure as the primary barriers to entry into the industry. The findings further reveal that a majority of aspiring content creators and gamers view the sector as a promising career path, provided there is greater institutional support and a reduction in prevailing social stigma.
