But then he totally stepped up, leading his teammates to the podium, getting his runner-up medal, and thanking the fans for sticking by them. That's when things got really emotional. It wasn't just about losing the World Cup or not getting another trophy. It was about seeing the very fans who used to question and doubt him now chanting his name and appreciating everything he's done for Argentina. These same fans who once wanted more now see him as a national icon, a legend forever in Argentine football history. While another World Cup win would've been a nice bonus, it would've just added to an already amazing career. This final's outcome doesn't really change his legacy at all. Even at his age, Messi had one of the best World Cup performances, getting Argentina to the final. We really admire your dedication and what you've achieved. Your legacy is already set.
