This morning's international friendly against Blue Crow Africa Elite Team at Dinaledi Academy Stadium provided another important test as Township Rollers continue to build towards the 2026/27 league campaign.

It was a high intensity and physically demanding encounter, exactly the type of environment needed at this stage of preparation.

The value of a preseason match is not measured only by the final result. It is measured by the questions it asks, the responses it produces and the lessons taken back to training.

For Mapalastina, the match provided another opportunity to assess the team's physical readiness, structure, combinations and ability to maintain discipline under pressure.

𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗦𝗘𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗗 𝗛𝗔𝗟𝗙 𝗧𝗘𝗟𝗟𝗦 𝗔 𝗦𝗧𝗢𝗥𝗬.

As the game progressed, Township Rollers began to assert greater control. The pressure increased, the attacking phases became more consistent and Mapalastina spent long periods playing in the opposition half.

The Blue Crow goalkeeper was increasingly called into action, while the defensive unit found itself under sustained pressure for much of the second half.

It was a positive indication of the team's ability to grow into a contest, maintain intensity and push the opposition backwards as the game developed.

There were positive signs in the way the team approached the contest. The structure remained organised, the attitude remained positive and the players continued to work collectively through the demands of the game.

With the league calendar drawing closer, these are the moments that matter.

The pieces are being tested. The combinations are developing. The intensity is rising.

Assistant captain Onkarabile “Sokanoka” Ratanang believes the preseason is giving the squad exactly what it needs: game time, combinations and a better understanding between the players.

He says experience only comes with playing games, and the more minutes the team gets together, the more comfortable they become with each other and their different combinations.

One of the positives he highlighted is the team's ability to score. Township Rollers have found the net in every game played during the preseason, showing encouraging attacking progress.

At the same time, the assistant captain admits there is still work to do, particularly defensively and when it comes to concentration.

The recent run has nevertheless given the squad something to build on. A win in Francistown, goals scored in the midweek international friendly despite the result, and then another victory in Orapa that delivered a preseason trophy.

For Sokanoka, winning the trophy is important because it gives the players confidence, but preseason is about more than results. It is about how the team fights for those results, learns from every game and develops the habits needed for the league.

His message is simple: get the minutes, understand each other, correct the mistakes and build properly before the real competition begins.🚆💨
