Baseball Federation of Belize is on the move!

On Friday, the Baseball Federation of Belize appeared on Open Your Eyes to talk about the growth of baseball in Belize, our upcoming international competition in July 2025, and how you can help us get there!

We were joined by renowned artist Alex Sanker, who is generously donating a one-of-a-kind painting to be raffled in support of the team.

Tyrell Brooks – 1st Baseman/Pitcher

Hailing from the Collet area on Southside Belize, Tyrell has been with us since the age of 12. Now in his second year on the Belize National Team, he brings strong presence both at first base and on the mound.

Meet 17 year old Jashua Choc from Southside Belize City– Pitcher/Outfielder, currently in his second year representing Belize on the National Baseball Team.

This photo was taken sometime between 2018 and 2019 during the early stages of our grassroots baseball revival efforts. At that time, we were meeting just twice a week, mainly because softball dominated access to the field. Despite those limitations, we laid the foundation for what would become a national movement.

Three of the young athletes in this picture: Maurice Muschamp, Tyrell Brooks, and Jashua Choc—have since risen through the ranks and are now proud members of Belize’s national baseball team. The President of the Federation son, Carlyon Flores jr , who’s in the red shirt, has been training with us since he was just three years old.

The turning point came in 2021, when we gained regular access to the Gwen Liz High School field. From that moment on, the team started training at least five times a week. That dedication and consistency have been key in shaping a new era of baseball in Belize one built on passion, perseverance, and the belief that our youth deserve every opportunity to shine.

The boys are set to play in Fort Myers FL in July 2025. We ask for your support 🙏

On January 5, 2019, the Belize Visionary Foundation of Baseball and Softball made history by hosting a landmark baseball game that reignited a long-dormant passion for the sport in our country. A team from Chetumal, Mexico, was invited to compete against our very own Belizean players, creating a spirit of camaraderie and cross-border sportsmanship. This wasn’t just any game,it was the first official baseball game played on Belizean soil since the summer of 1994!!! The event marked the beginning of a new chapter for baseball in Belize , as players, fans, and supporters gathered to celebrate the return of the sport they love. It was a proud and emotional moment for everyone who had worked tirelessly to bring baseball back to life in Belize.

In 2021, George Edmund Perteau made history as the first Belizean to compete in the 14th Annual Power Showcase at the Miami Marlins' Home Depot Field. His participation marked a proud milestone for Belizean baseball and opened doors for future generations.
