Ajax Soccer Club Statement regarding to Richard Karikari and Vicki Scott:
Ajax Soccer Club was recently made aware of criminal charges laid by the Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) against Richard Karikari, for the offences of Fraud Over $5000, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000, and Breach of Trust, as well as charges against Vicki Scott for Fraud Over $5000, Launder Proceeds of Crime, and Breach of Trust. Our understanding is that the alleged incidents occurred while both were affiliated with Ajax Soccer Club during and before 2024, one of DRSA’s members.
While Ajax Soccer Club cannot comment on the specific allegations due to the ongoing police investigation and court proceedings, it is important to clarify that neither Richard Karikari nor Vicki Scott has been affiliated with Ajax Soccer Club in any capacity since 2024.
They are not employees, volunteers, directors, officers, members of the executive team, contractors, or representatives of Ajax Soccer Club. The current Board of Directors, executive leadership, staff, coaches, volunteers, and membership have no association with these individuals and are not involved in the matters that are the subject of the police investigation.
Since 2024, Ajax Soccer Club has undergone significant leadership and governance changes. The organization is operating under a new Board of Directors and executive team committed to transparency, accountability, strong governance, and responsible stewardship of the club.
As Ajax’s only sanctioned non-profit soccer club, serving thousands of players and families, our priority remains providing a safe, inclusive, and positive environment for our members. The protection of our participants, volunteers, and community is paramount, and we take these responsibilities seriously.
Ajax Soccer Club fully respects and supports the work of law enforcement and will continue to cooperate with any lawful requests related to ongoing investigations. We encourage anyone with information relevant to these matters to contact the Durham Regional Police Service directly or Crime Stoppers.
We recognize that these developments may raise questions within the community. We want to reassure our members, families, sponsors, and community partners that the Ajax Soccer Club operating today is led by an entirely different governance and management team than those referenced in the allegations.
Our focus remains on serving the community, delivering high-quality soccer programming, strengthening the organization, and continuing to rebuild trust through transparency, accountability, and responsible leadership.
As these matters are currently before the courts, Ajax Soccer Club will not provide further comment on the allegations or legal proceedings against the named individuals.
