A big thank you to the St. George’s Social Committee for organizing a fantastic player party for the MT100 Tournament! (St. George’s ITF Masters)

Friday night’s East Coast Kitchen Party was a great way to bring everyone together. We were fortunate to have not only a fantastic turnout of Atlantic players, but also players who travelled from across Canada and internationally to take part in the tournament.

We hope everyone had a great time both on and off the court and, most importantly, received a proper East Coast welcome! 🤗

We have two junior tournaments coming up next month at Sobeys Atlantic Tennis Centre! Players should only register for 1 of the 2 so here are some descriptions to help you decide what the best fit is:

1: Rogers First Set Tour – Rookie competitions are for boys and girls up to the age of 18.

All Rookie events are non-elimination tournaments. These events offer beginner competitors a fun and exciting experience with multiple opportunities to play.

Technical Director Marijke Nel considers herself fortunate to be able to travel around the province, to visit and support the very special TNS member organizations, which are “scattered all over the map”.
She says that players in the HRM area are often unaware of some of the other communities in which people play, support and grow the game of tennis. Players sometimes comment on feeling like they play with the same people all the time - and would love to connect with players from other communities.

For that reason, Marijke ran a club exchange initiative last weekend, in which HRM players traveled to the beautiful community of Annapolis Royal. They combined with some local players for a training session on Friday afternoon, focusing on doubles skills. Then they spent the night in this little historic town and had a singles-focued training/playing session with a new group of local players on Saturday morning.

Players had a great time being paired up with new partners in doubles training and facing different opponents in singles games. They exchanged contact details afterwards and made arrangements to connect and play again, both in HRM and Annapolis Royal in the near future.

Thank you to all those who organize and play tennis in the picturesque community of Annapolis Royal, we would love to bring more players there from other communities in the future - and also to get you on court in some other locations! 🎾💚

Stretching the season:
Outdoor tennis does not end after the NS Open.
Though junior programming wraps up for some when kids go back to school, TNS is delivering workshops, clinics and social events for adults at several member clubs, to encourage outdoor play as long as possible.

Truro Tennis club hosted 24 players for a Blue Court event on a beautiful sunny evening last night, with Technical Director Marijke Nel, Clarke Fullerton, Leif Power and newly certified Club Pro 1 coach, MacKenzie Frame.

The Truro crowd makes it so easy to have fun on the court, with their great energy and attitude.

TNS loves coming back! 💙

Canada needs more female coaches! 🇨🇦
This program gives young girls the opportunity for a gentle introduction into the coaching arena. It provides guidance, professional support and skills training from experienced facilitators - and also equips them with an Instructor certification.
Off court webinars include modules on building confidence, public speaking, leadership and professionalism, while the on-court component focuses on developing coaching skills.

If you know a young girl who loves tennis and might be interested in becoming a coach, tell them about this program! (Age: 14 – 17 years old *Must turn 15 the year of taking the program)
