The weather is much less soggy at Berwick Gala Days today, and the Ice Cream Hut is open for business!!
Please come by the booth by the ball field and get your favourite frozen treat, or a bottle of water. We have the best view of the tug-of-war happening later today. And we’re right by the Highland Games and the horse pull!

Well, folks, it looks like today isn’t the day for ice cream sales.
The ice cream hut is closed today due to the weather, and with the car show cancelled. Alice and I (Dawna) will revisit at lunchtime and set up for a bit this afternoon if things improve.
Tomorrow’s forecast is looking better — 19c and partly sunny — so please come and see us at the hut then!!

We're excited to announce that registration for the 2026-2027 Junior Curling Program is now open!
Registration fees:
Junior curling program: $120
Junior membership (for junior curlers 14+ who will also be participating in BCC adult leagues, and doing the junior program): $160 -- PLEASE talk to Dawna or Alice before registering your child for the membership vs the program fee.
Like last year, registration will be done through the Berwick Curling Club's website. https://berwickcurlingclub.com/
It's a two-step process for registration:
1️⃣ First step is to create the profile in your junior curler’s name
2️⃣ You will receive an email confirming the profile has been created. Once you receive that,
3️⃣ Login to go to step 2, which is the actual registration.
If you have more than one child joining the program, you will need two different e-mail addresses. There are a couple of tricks you can use if you have a Gmail account:
➕Plus Addressing (The "+" Trick): Add a plus sign (+) and any word or label after your username and before the @ symbol (e.g., yourname+[email protected]).
Best uses: Use specific tags for different sites or tasks, such as yourname+[email protected] or yourname+[email protected].
Benefits: All messages go straight to your main inbox, and you can set up automatic filters or labels for each tag.
⏺️Dot Aliases (The "." Trick): Gmail does not count periods in your username, meaning [email protected] goes to the exact same inbox as [email protected].
Best uses: Sign up for secondary accounts or separate personal registrations where a plus sign might not be accepted by a website's form validation
Please let us know if you have any issues with the registration process.
A follow-up form will be sent to you after registering that will ask some additional registration questions.
🥌📣We’re continuing to offer our Thursday curlers extra ice time on Mondays from 4 to 5:30 p.m. If you’re not familiar, we'll let you know how that works as the season gets closer to starting.
👟The shoe library is available again this year. It's a deposit of $100 for a pair of shoes (which can be traded in as feet grow), and $70 is returned to you when your junior leaves the program, or upon request.
🌟 If anyone is interested in becoming a club coach and join our current roster of coaches, Nova Scotia Curling is offering the Club Coach clinic at the Lakeshore Curling Club on September 26 and 27.

The Junior Program will reimburse those who take the training clinic and commit to coach with the program. Please reach out if this is of interest to you.
👀 If you're not ready to coach, we're always looking for parent volunteers to help as "eyes on the ice" on Mondays. No coaching certification needed, but you will need to have a record check completed. Let us know if this appeals to you.
📣One new addition to the season: We will be hosting monthly family meetings to keep everyone informed about what’s happening within the program, upcoming events, and share any new information about the program. Alice and I will also be around on both Mondays and Thursdays to ask any questions or bring up any concerns you may have more privately. We'll keep you posted about the dates for these sessions.
I think that's all for the time being. 😃
Please let Alice and I know if you have any questions about the upcoming junior curling season. Hope you're looking forward to this season as much as we are!
Dawna 😊🥌

This is so important!
The best thing we all can do is show up, put a team in a bonspiel, help out your ice maker, offer prizes for a fundraiser, sell tickets, cook something for a spiel, show up at a meeting, sponsor a junior team, do something, but show up for your curling centre this season.
Let’s all show up for our curling centre this season😁❤️🥌
