A must have investment for all Dads

1.) Adjustable DB’s (Rep, Powerblock).

These can range from $300-$2,000 but become the staple of your home gym. With access from 10-80bs with the flip of the switch they are convenient, you can use them for so many movements & they don’t take up too much space.

2.) Bench

A must have once you’ve got your set of DB’s. This will expand your exercise possibilites

3.) Bands (Amazon)

Cheap & easy to store. They provide great accommodating resistance and give you lots of warm-up & pre-hab options.

4.) Flooring

You’re about to start moving more weight so you’ve got to keep your floors protected.

5.) Rack, Barbell & Plates (Rep, Rogue, Bells of Steel)

This will set you up for getting stronger. Once you have this you’re in a VERY good spot for your home gym. All you’ll need to add is additional weight as you get stronger.

6.) Accessorize

Tricep Dip Bar, RFE SS Pad, Pins, cables etc.

College athlete - professional athlete - husband & father.

The transition over the past few years has been real. From training 3-5 hours/day over practices and lifts to all of suddenly not even having time for 1 hour workouts (including travel time to and from the gym).

My main goal as I enter in my 30’s this year (dang) is to stay athletic, finally hit 255+ BW and complete my first half marathon (pending a current knee injury)

Heres what a week of training usually looks like for me..

Monday: Upper A | Horizontal Pull / Vertical Push / Accessories

Tuesday: Lower A | Squat Main / Metcon

Wedesday: Rest OR Long slow run

Thursday: Upper B | Horizontal Push / Vertical Pull / Plyo’s

Friday: Lower B OR Threshold Intervals

Saturday: Lower B OR Threshold Intervals

Sunday: Family time
