Congratulations to Riley Wilkinson! Our Most Improved Referee of the Year!

Lots of our officials made huge gains in game management and ability. Riley bounced back from a bad experience with a coach. She gained the confidence to do their game again and did an excellent job. Riley has made improvements of the season and will excel in the coming years.

Great job Riley!

Congratulations Amelia Viger, our Referee of the Year!

Amelia ticks off all the boxes: kind, understanding, patient, firm, fair, and runs a good game. She did a lot of mentoring this year and coaches have contacted the RIC stating what a great job she did for their game. Her dedication and hustle are a great example for our up and coming officials.

Last night South Delta Minor Hockey with North Delta Minor Hockey Association held a Girls Hockey Night in Delta. We had a great turnout, close to 60 girls came out to meet other girls from both North and South Delta. Thank you to everyone who participated, volunteered and to North Delta Minor Hockey Association for collaborating on this event to help build Girl's Hockey in our city. South Delta Minor Hockey and North Delta Minor Hockey Association are proud to partner together to promote female hockey in Delta. We invite all female players to join us on June 24th for a fun skate and learn more about next season's programs with the Delta Stars. Every season PCAHA holds a U18 Scholarship Tournament and awards $500 scholarships to three participants in the tournament. However, as a result of COVID the tournament was cancelled this season.

This season each association was eligible to nominate 2 athletes per U18 team. Nominees wrote a short essay on "What Hockey Means to Me". The PCAHA Female Committee reviewed all essays and selected the winners. One of the three scholarships was awarded to Haley Grewal.

CONGRATULATIONS HALEY!

Here's what hockey means to Haley!
https://sites.google.com/tricitiesfemaleicehockey.ca/social

Hockey is so much more than just a sport. It has been a big part of my life for as long as I can remember. My parents are big hockey fans and we have always watched hockey on tv or went see games, live at Rogers Arena. I learned to skate early on and opted to play ringette and then regained my love for hockey. Eventually becoming a goalie, much to my parent's dismay.

The greatest thing about hockey is that you instantly become part of an amazing community of people. Parents volunteer to coach, manage and help in any way necessary. Teammates work together, supporting each other, developing skills and building life-long friendships.

The Tri-City Predators is an incredible organization that welcomes all girls of all skill levels with open arms. They provide an abundance of opportunities to develop through extra ice time, skill
development and goalie clinics.

All of these moments only strengthened my love for the game. It's not just a sport, you learn numerous life skills to carry with you.

Volunteering under Samantha Soares gave me the chance to pay it forward and keep growing the game in our
community. Having young girls look up to me for guidance and being able to teach goalie skills, offer advice and support was unbelievable. I got to share my knowledge and inspire a new generation of female athletes. Each practice I got to see each girl progress and by the end of the season they were all stronger hockey players.

This experience translated into a job with the City of Port Moody, where I work as a skating instructor. I am able to carry all of the skills I learned from the Predators. These skills include teamwork, leadership, perseverance, respect and fitness. I realized I could never give up.

I learned to step up and bring the team together after a tough game or practice. I gained the knowledge on how to voice my opinions and concerns with the utmost respect to all of my peers including my coaches, referees, and teammates. These experiences taught me to take care of myself, eat well and to perform at the highest level of my abilities.

Playing hockey all these years has made me a well-rounded individual and I am so thankful to all the coaches, team moms, manager, treasurers, association directors, parents, teammates and opponents for challenging and supporting me through my hockey journey. I look forward to playing hockey in adult leagues and maybe on post-secondary teams.

I could not be the person I am today, had I not been in hockey.

The Predator family is devastated and heartbroken by the sudden loss of one of our young family members, Summer. Summer passed away suddenly on Friday, November 5th.

Although Summer was not playing hockey this season, she secured a place in all our hearts over the years. Summer played U13 last season and many of our U13 and U15 players this year were on the same team as Summer over the years.

Summer's favorite color was forest green so this weekend, a number of our U13 and U15 teams will be wearing a dark green ribbon to honor and celebrate Summer.

Rest easy, Summer.
You have touched many lives and hearts.
