Quick Minto Cup history 🥍

→ One of the oldest trophies in Canadian sport
→ Donated in 1901 by Lord Minto, Governor General of Canada (hence the name)
→ After its last keeper died, the cup straight up VANISHED
→ Turned up in 1938… under a desk in his old office 💀

The disappearing act: the cup’s final trustee was Charlie Welsh out in New Westminster. When he died, the trophy went with him, nobody knew where it was. Then, right before the 1938 junior championship, someone found it collecting dust under a desk in his office 😭

Greatest trophy in the game and it was just chilling down there. Lacrosse history is wild.
