The Generals return to the SLS Centre for our 2026/27 Home Opener on Friday, October 3, at 8:00 PM!

The Regular Season kicks off a weekend prior on the road as the Generals take on the Sylvan Lake Wranglers and the Coaldale Copperheads.

Today marks the 25th anniversary of our home rink, the SLS Centre!

As we wrap up our look back at the top five Generals moments inside the SLS Centre, we finish with the biggest one of them all: the 2008–09 HJHL Championship!

On home ice, the Generals defeated the Stettler Lightning to capture back-to-back league championships in front of a packed crowd in Totem 1, capping off one of the most memorable nights in the history of the SLS Centre and the Town of Cochrane!

For over 25 years, we’ve been proud to call the SLS Centre home. Where memories have been made, championships have been celebrated, and our community has come together and we’re proud to call it home for many years to come!

With our home rink, the SLS Centre, celebrating its 25th anniversary, we’re looking back at the top five Generals moments at the SLS Centre.

At No. 2 is the Annual Sledge Hockey Game.

Beginning in the 2022–23 season, the Generals partnered with the Calgary Sledge Hockey Association to host an annual Sledge Hockey Game. Each year, our players trade their skates for sledges to take on members of the Calgary Sledge Hockey Association while raising funds for the organization. It’s become one of the most meaningful traditions at the SLS Centre and a true celebration of the game for everyone.

At No. 3 is March 11, 2016 Game 6 South Final

In front of a packed crowd at the SLS Centre, the Generals clinched the South Division Championship with a 6-5 double-overtime victory over the Coaldale Copperheads. The win sent the Generals to their 3rd HJHL Final, where the Generals would ultimately fall to the Mountainview Colts in six games.

At No. 4 is the beginning of a new era.

The 2001–02 season marked the Generals’ first season at Totem 1. On October 20, 2001, the Generals hosted the Mountainview Colts in the first-ever game played at the SLS Centre, opening the doors to what would become over 25 years of unforgettable hockey in Cochrane.

At No. 5 is the 2004 HJHL All-Star Showcase.

On January 10, 2004, during the Generals’ 20th season, the SLS Centre played host to the HJHL All-Star Showcase. The day featured a Top Prospects Game, a banquet, and the 2004 HJHL All-Star Game, bringing the league’s top talent to the SLS Centre for a memorable day of junior hockey.
