3 Resume Mistakes That Could Be Costing You Interviews!

Your resume may have all the right experience, but these common mistakes could stop you from getting noticed by recruiters:

1. Listing tasks instead of achievements
Don’t just say what you were responsible for, show the impact you made. Use results, numbers, and accomplishments to demonstrate your value.

2. Using the same resume for every job
One-size-fits-all resumes rarely work. Tailor your resume to each position and highlight the experience most relevant to the job.

3. Ignoring keywords
Many companies use Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) to screen resumes. Use relevant keywords from the job description to improve your chances of getting noticed.

Your resume is more than a list of jobs, it’s your marketing document!

“Why are you leaving your current job?”
It’s a simple question that can be surprisingly difficult to answer.
The key?
Focus less on what you’re leaving and more on what you’re moving toward.
Swipe through for a simple framework you can use in your next interview.
Save this for later and share it with someone preparing for an interview.

Networking during a career transition isn’t about asking everyone you know for a job.

It’s about building the right relationships, on purpose, before you need them.

Here are 5 people worth reaching out to this week, and what to actually say when you do.

Save this so you have it ready for your next coffee chat or LinkedIn message.

Who’s one person on this list you could reconnect with today?

“Tell me about yourself” can feel difficult when your experience doesn’t follow a traditional path.

But you don’t need to explain every job you’ve ever had.

You need to connect the dots between where you’ve been, what you’ve learned, where you’re going, and why this opportunity makes sense.

Use this simple framework:

Who you are → What you’ve done → Why you’re transitioning → Why this role

Your career change is part of your story. Own it.

Save this for your next interview.
Share it with someone navigating a career transition.

Is your resume ATS-friendly?

Getting past the Applicant Tracking System (ATS) is the first step to getting noticed by a recruiter.

✅ Use simple, clean formatting
✅ Include keywords from the job description
✅ Avoid tables, graphics, and fancy fonts
✅ Use standard headings like Work Experience, Education & Skills
✅ Save your resume as a PDF unless instructed otherwise

Your resume should be designed for both the ATS and the human reading it.

Your resume shouldn’t be a one-size-fits-all document.

One of the biggest mistakes I see job seekers make is sending the exact same resume to every position.

The better approach?

Tailor your resume to the job description.

Start by identifying the employer’s key requirements, then connect those requirements to your actual experience.

Look for:
→ Keywords
→ Required skills
→ Responsibilities
→ Qualifications
→ Tools and software

Then make sure your summary, skills and experience clearly demonstrate the match.

And remember tailoring doesn’t mean changing your experience or exaggerating your qualifications.

It means making the most relevant parts of your experience easier for the employer to see.

Networking is not about collecting contacts. It’s about building relationships.

Don’t approach every conversation with “What can you do for me?”

Instead, lead with:
✨ Genuine curiosity
✨ Meaningful conversations
✨ Providing value
✨ Staying connected

You don’t need to ask for a job to build a relationship that could eventually open a door.

Build relationships, not transactions.

Save this for your next networking conversation.
