I am often asked if I work with people virtually. Yes, I do!
Working virtually allows me to work with people across Canada. In fact, some of my clients I’ve only ever worked with virtually.
For my Peace Region clients, virtual sessions can also be a great option. You can come in for in-person sessions when it works, and when it doesn’t - because of weather, scheduling, travel, or vacation - we can meet virtually instead.
This flexibility can help with availability, consistency, and accountability while allowing you to continue making progress.

Are you “bendy” or have you always been very flexible?

Maybe you’ve always been able to touch your toes without trying, sit in unusual positions, or notice your joints move further than most people’s.

Or maybe flexibility isn’t what you notice anymore.

Maybe your joints hurt. Maybe they feel stiff. Maybe you’ve had repeated ankle sprains, or exercise always seems to make something flare up.

If any of this sounds familiar, you’re not alone.

Pain, stiffness, and joint instability can have many different causes. Sometimes they may be related to hypermobility, old injuries, movement patterns, or connective tissue disorders such as Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) or Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder (HSD).

I specialize in helping people who experience joint pain, stiffness, instability, and hypermobility. I teach exercises that help build strength, improve stability, and increase confidence in movement. Many people find that as they become stronger and more stable, they also experience less pain—helping you do more of the things you enjoy.

I’m also putting together a new education series about hypermobility and joint instability. We’ll explore:
• What hypermobility and joint instability are
• Common signs to look for
• Why some people experience pain while others don’t
• How strength and stability training can help

Whether you’re just curious, wondering if any of this sounds familiar, or looking for ways to move with more confidence, I hope you’ll follow along!

Mental health and physical health are deeply connected.

Living with medical or health conditions can affect a person’s mental health in many ways - whether that is chronic pain, nervous system dysregulation, fatigue, injuries, frustration, stress, anxiety, depression, or simply the emotional exhaustion that can come with trying to manage symptoms day after day.

One of the reasons helping people become safely active is so important to me is because of the positive connection between exercise and mental health.

Research shows regular physical activity can help improve:
• Anxiety
• Depression
• Stress
• Mood
• Sleep
• Focus and concentration
• Nervous system regulation

And so much more….

Health Canada recommends:
• 150 minutes of aerobic activity/week
• Strength training 2x/week
• Reducing sedentary time

But movement does not need to be intense to help.

Studies have shown even 10 minutes of mild-to-moderate exercise can make a difference - especially for someone who has been sedentary.

And it is okay to start small.

Some of my clients begin with as little as 30 seconds at a time before gradually building up.

Movement should meet you where you are at.

You do not need to already be fit, athletic, consistent with exercise, or have access to equipment to start being active.

One thing I feel strongly about is creating a safe and supportive environment for movement, adapting not only to physical symptoms, but also fatigue, stress, overwhelm, and mental wellbeing.

I also have access to local and virtual mental health resources that I am always happy to share.

My awesome husband planned a lovely little road trip for us into the mountains (southern BC and Alberta). A much needed get-away. He was also my photographer while I was paddle boarding. Photo credit to Blair Wandler for the scenic paddle board photos! I was also lucky enough to be the only one on the lakes in Osoyoos and Jasper.

MS Awareness Month

One of the reasons I pursued further specialization in working with people living with MS was because of the research surrounding exercise and MS.

Research continues to show that safe, individualized exercise can help improve:
• fatigue
• strength and endurance
• balance and mobility
• confidence with movement
• cognitive and mental health
• overall quality of life

Research shows these benefits can be seen across many different stages and presentations of MS, with exercise adapted to the individual and their symptoms.

Another thing that stood out to me during my research was learning that Canada has one of the highest rates of MS in the world - and that BC is considered a high-prevalence province as well.

Living in Northern BC, I know access to specialized support can be difficult. Expanding my education in this area was important to me so I could help bring more individualized, condition-aware exercise support closer to home.

Exercise with MS is not about “pushing through.” It’s about learning how to work with your body in a safe, sustainable, and supportive way.
