36 glorious kilometers down the Fraser River, launching from Yale. Beautiful weather, fantastic conditions and a great crew.

I am stoked to be hosting a Paddle Canada certified Instructor and Instructor Trainer rollout event this June with Neil Gilson of SUP Bearfoot!

The focus of this rollout is to increase the number of qualified river SUP instructors and instructor trainers in Western Canada, to safely and effectively meet the growing demands for river paddling.

Over the 4-day event, participants will have the ability to work towards the following certifications: River 1 SUP Instructor, River 2 SUP Instructor, River 1 SUP Instructor Trainer and/or River 2 SUP Instructor Trainer.

In a rollout event, regular Paddle Canada prerequisites MAY be waived, provided EQUIVALENT teaching and paddling experience and knowledge can be demonstrated. All participants MUST have these prerequisite teaching and paddling skills PRIOR to the event, and a list of prerequisites can be seen on my website under "upcoming". The event will take place from June 27th through June 30th, 2026 in Chilliwack, BC. Cost for the event is $450

It has been a privilege getting so many people out paddling on rivers, understanding the risks, dialing skills and having an absolute blast!

Stoked for the levels to have come back up and to get more fall/winter laps in like this last one!

River 2 SUP skills course today! This crew worked their tails off, dialing in skills like their offside forward strokes, S-turns, surfing standing waves and jet ferrying. So much fun! I'm exhausted 😅

This album is affectionately titled "River Fingers." We talk about Power Angle Lean (PAL) all the time on river maneuvers. If that lean is off, the river fingers grab your rail, throw you off balance, and send you for a swim. But if you dial in that lean,it's sooo smooth! (Last photo).
