πBack to Schoolβ¦Cowboy Style! π
As students head back to the classroom, we're excited to work on something that takes learning beyond four walls and into the arena, the pasture, and the western way of life.
The BC Versatility Ranch Horse Association is exploring a new youth development program focused on building complete horsemen and horsewomen through horsemanship, stockmanship, leadership, mentorship, and hands-on learning experiences. The proposed program includes monthly clinics, educational opportunities, community service, and guidance from a variety of industry professionals.
Imagine a place where BC youth can:
π΅Learn from top trainers, ranchers, rodeo coaches, veterinarians, and horse industry professionals
π΅Develop practical ranch and cattle-handling skills
π΅Improve their horsemanship and riding abilities
π Combine horse education with hands-on experiences
πΎ Build leadership skills and stronger connections to agriculture
This school year, we're dreaming big about the future of youth western education in British Columbia... and we want to hear from YOU!
π If a program like this was available, what would your child be most excited to learn?
Stay tuned. The future of western horsemanship education in BC just might be headed back to school. π€π΄

π FAQ: What Type of Curb Strap (Chin Strap) Is Legal? π
We've had a few questions about legal curb straps for AQHA VRH competition, so here's a quick guide:
π Be at least 1/2" wide
π Lie flat against the horse's jaw
π Be properly attached to the bit
β Wire curbs are not permitted.
β Braided leather or rawhide curb straps that do not lie flat are not permitted.
π When in doubt, a flat leather curb strap or flat curb chain is usually the safest choice for AQHA VRH competition.
π₯ Included with this FAQ is a great video from Dennis Moreland Tack featuring Canadian VRH Championship Judge & Clinician Bozo Rogers, where he walks through legal and illegal curb strap options and helps clear up some of the most common equipment questions competitors have.
