We’ve started our 8 days of fairs over 10 days here in BC this weekend with the Salmon Arm Fair! Weee running clinics here at the fair 8am-12pm and 6pm-8pm today and tomorrow and then an Extreme Cowboy Race on Sunday afternoon at 1:30!
Fairs are one of the best way to get your horses exposed to a lot of things they don’t regularly get to see, how many times do you get to work obstacles under a Ferris wheel?
Come check it out!

“Horsemanship Through Obstacles” &
Extreme Cowboy Clinic!
FALKLAND, BC - August 21,22,23
This is a family friendly clinic the weekend prior to Salmon Arm fair, and Armstrong fair and is always one of the best! There’s both levels available for all 3 days. This type of clinic is a great way to improve your horsemanship through obstacles, in a fun environment!
LEVEL 1 - is anyone who hasn’t taken a clinic prior with myself and is a great spot for beginners, green horses, new comers to the sport and all levels of riding. We start on the ground with a series of exercises to help build the trust and connection with your horse. We then build that into how we ride to have a clear connection with trust while riding. From there we use the trust and connection that we’ve built to work through new obstacles that relate to all aspects of riding. Whether it be dark corners in an arena, creek crossings, new banners being hung at a show, or in an obstacle sport itself. (Most people choose to stay in level 1 for around 3 clinics because it’s so much fun)
LEVEL 2 - This is for people who have participated in at least one level 1 clinic prior. Here we’ll work on piecing together an advanced level of horsemanship through combining a few obstacles, while working deeper at moving their feet when and where we want to get to their mind and build an ultimate connection. This level is for those wanting to advance themselves in any sport, as well as those that want to compete, or already are competing, in Extreme Cowboy competitions.
Price is $400 per rider.
Of that $200 is a non refundable deposit if not enough notice is given to fill the spot. The full amount is required 20 days prior and the same rule applies to the above of your place can not be filled.
Session 1 runs 1-4 Friday, & 9am - 12pm the following two days
Session 2 runs 5-8 Friday, and 1 pm - 4pm the following two days
PM for any questions, currently half full at the moment.
Total of 12 riders between the two sessions.

Every great working horse starts with a solid foundation.
Starting today, whether you’re looking to improve responsiveness, build confidence, or strengthen your partnership in the saddle, the Trevor Mertes Horses That Work Clinic is an incredible opportunity to invest in both you and your horse.
At DK Saddlery, we know that great horsemanship and properly fitted equipment go hand in hand. We love supporting opportunities that help horse and rider reach their full potential.
Who’s joining us in Summerland this July? 🤠

Just wrapped up a 3 day Horsemanship Clinic here in Cochrane with the Eagle Feather Riding Club! Was great to meet all the new riders and help advance their horsemanship journey. It’s always awesome to see riding groups catch on to the smallest details of their horse to gain more out of them and direct their intent.
