Have you ever caught yourself thinking, “I just wish I had people to talk to about my business”?

People who understand what it’s like to wear all the hats.

People who celebrate your wins because they know how hard you’ve worked for them.

People who don’t see you as competition, and who genuinely want you to succeed.

I think that’s something so many solopreneurs wish we had, and this is one of the reasons I’m excited to be part of The Solopreneur Sisterhood’s first virtual conference, Gather & Grow, this October.

Last night I purposefully checked the calendar to see how many days until the big 5-0. 🎂

Turns out it’s 50 days to my 50th birthday. Whoa. How did that happen?!

I don’t feel 50. And at the same time, I feel ... gosh, I don’t even have the words.

Mostly I’m just grateful. Grateful for the wisdom I’ve garnered all these years living a truly unconventional life.

I tried the conventional path a few times. Stable jobs, the car, even bought a condo one time, and of course a ‘meh’ relationship.

And every time (one time in particular) it left me wondering, asking myself, “fck me, is this it?!”

Turns out I’m just not built for that kind of mediocrity. Some people are, and love it, and that’s awesome.

Me, on the other hand, I was meant for an extraordinarily adventurous life instead.

No husband. No kids. Six countries, four continents, more beautiful places than I can count.

I sold everything I owned four times. I’ve lived out of a van and a trailer while riding bikes for six months.

I built two businesses. I lost one. I built another.

It hasn’t been all rainbows and unicorns. But I’m so fcking happy, proud, and grateful for the life I’ve lived so far.

Through every up, down, and lesson on top of lesson, I’ve done most of it while travelling the world, living in places and accomplishing things a lot of people dream about and think they could never do.

You can, though. If you want to.

If I can do it, anyone can.

I’m not usually one for celebrating my own birthday.

But I am absolutely one for celebrating the wisdom and the life I’ve built in these almost 50 years.

For once in a long time, I’m actually thinking about what I want to do on the day. Lol. The pressure!

And here’s the thing: I feel like my life is just revving up to something even more extraordinary than I ever dreamed, and I’m so here for it.

This next chapter and decade is going to be my best one yet.

And in many ways I believe it’s already revving up. 🎉

23 people signed up for my first Walk Into Wealth Networking call.

12 of us were on the live call, including me, and I am so pumped about how it went.

Yes, we hit a Zoom hiccup or two (breakout rooms, apparently you have to actually turn those on in your settings 😂).

Pivoting and changing things up on the fly calmly and transparently is a strong muscle I’ve done many reps with.

It’s a part of the territory of being a coach and having built two businesses over the last 13+ years.

The room was full of people from my network, plus one brand new connection right here in Whistler.

This is what happens when you keep showing up and putting yourself out there.

Connections turn into rooms full of people ready to grow.

You won’t always see why you’re doing something in the moment, but you can trust it’s most certainly leading you somewhere.

8 months ago I started networking like a bandit.

I allowed it to lead me from one group to another group and one person to the next person.

At times I questioned what I was even doing.

Walk Into Wealth Networking exists because of this.

And there are three incredible humans and their networking rooms who inspired the creation of mine: , , and .storycoach 🙌

Thank you ladies!!! AND message them for access to their monthly networking groups because they are AMAZING.

Two key takeaways:

(1) If you have a business, it’s never too early to start building relationships. If you’re serious about your business, start NOW.

(2) Trust the process. Eight months ago I had no idea I was a natural relationship builder let alone I’d be starting my own networking group around money. 💸

There’s a misconception that networking is about constantly finding new people.

So many coaches, solopreneurs, and small business owners think they need fresh faces every week to grow.

And while there is truth to that, it more oftentimes happens when you keep showing up in the same rooms allowing people the chance to get to know you.

Networking is about building relationships.

Sometimes those relationships take 1-5 years before they’re at the point where they’re ready for your service.

Sometimes it’s instant.

Either way, it’s the long game, and it works.

Networking isn’t necessarily a numbers game, and it’s most certainly a trust one. 🤍

It’s a monthly gathering for coaches, solopreneurs, and small business owners ready to expand their network, elevate their money mindset, and attract dream clients, referral partners, and collaborations.

What someone thinks of you is none of your damn business.

Because the truth is, they’re not the ones paying your bills.

You can spend your energy managing people’s perception of you.

Or you can spend it serving your clients, refining your offer, and building the business you actually want.

One of those grows your bank account.

The other just keeps you exhausted.

Blinders on. Keep trucking.

Your business grows in the direction of your focus, not in the direction of other people’s opinions and approval.
