Cowichan River Rats

Well you might not like it but this is what peak male athletic form looks like, and there ain’t a thing you can do about it! Bridgeway Transport’s player of the game is this great pick up Dustin Reid! Dustin had the loan goal for us and ran hard all game despite having only 11 runners. Dustin had his first lacrosse season in 10 years and showed massive improvements from the start of the season. We look forward to his improvements in the next season! Last nights game vs the 1st place Jokers was a tough 17-1 loss. We would like to thank all you fans for your support this season even though it wasn’t our best year! We promise to be better and much more improved for 2027!!

Last night’s playoff game against the Snuneymuxw Sun Devils ended up an 11-6 Victory for the good guys! Bridgeway Transport’s player of the game is this big lefty stud Greg Kowatski! Greg was all over the floor throwing his body around and scoring 2 big goals! This young 34 year old is just getting started! Our next game is a do or die against the Victoria Jokers tomorrow night 7:30pm in Panorama. If you’re feeling up for a late night and a road trip we would appreciate your support!

That’s a wrap on our final game in the 2026 regular season, we get a bit of a break before our first playoff game on Sunday July 5th at the Rat Cage 7:30pm. Final score last night was a 12-12 tie with the Snuneymuxw Sun Devils. Bridgeway’s Transports player of the game is our Captain Jared Meservia! Jared ended up scoring 6 goals and getting 1 assist in last nights game! Jared has had one hell of a season and his big performance yesterday put him in 1st place in the Vancouver Island Lacrosse League’s point leaderboard! Keep your eyes on this stud as playoffs hit and next season!

We have added stickers to our helmets to a former member of Cowichan River Rats family Gary Quaife who has recently passed. He will be deeply missed in the lacrosse community! RIP Gary!

Tonight is our last and final regular season game! 730 start up at the Nanaimo Ice Center! We hope to see some of you fans up there tonight!

Last night’s game was a fun one for the boys! We won the final battle of cowichan with a final score of 10-6. Bridgeway transports player of the game is Dylan Dewarle who led the offence with 4 goals and 1 assist! His shot accuracy was dialled in on last nights game! Big shoutout to our goalie Mat Bruyere who stood on his head and made some big saves for us through all 60 minutes! The boys just finished playing 3 games in 4 days and it showed in the performance last night. Many injuries were present and it left us with a short bench. Big thanks to the Cowichan Jr B team for loaning us 3 players for yesterday game. We also would like to thank Maddy Krassman from Sr Womans Nanaimo Timberman team for coming to help us out in goal in a couple recent games! Bridgeway Transport’s player of the game was this 16 year old Jr B stud, Cruiz Heemskerk who scored 3 of our 5 goals! This Cowichan product has a ton of potential in the future of lacrosse! Another huge shoutout to our rough and tough defender Spencer Rooke for his fight of the year candidate! If you haven’t seen it yet check out our social media stories!
