Teaching our kids program the value of forcing your opponent to stay in a defensive state - forcing them to only think about your next move instead of there own. One can’t enjoy themselves in the act of a mosquito that never stops biting. Be a mosquito my friend 🦟
Shenal secured the finish in his MMA DEBUT 👏👏👏
Often times we get asked “why don’t you have an mma class when you’re an mma gym”
Because at this early stage of development for our youth and adult athletes, we believe that learning wrestling, kickboxing and grappling on its own is far more impactful then trying to piece it all together in one class to early.
Shenal among many of our students who actively train both disciplines are a great case study of showing why this pays off in their progress when ready to compete in mma.
A healthy mix of leverage, base, connection and timing lead to a really effective guard game! Something I personally have been working on improving and referencing to our team lately is maintaining good connection.
When top player is untangling your guard, it’s imperative to stay connected so you can time your next attack and keep them defending. This will lead to you successfully get them off balance resulting in a clean 🧹
I like how Keenan Cornelius references the term “intermediary guard” as a transition to perhaps your guard of choice.
Play around with two guards in your rolls and see how well you can manage to go from one to the next. In this video I use the de la riva as the intermediary position to then transition to single leg x as an example
