Youth coaching is more than winning.

Winning can be important, but it should never be the main measure of success in youth football. The real purpose is to develop players for the long term.

Here are a few questions we should be asking ourselves as youth coaches:

1). Did the players learn something today?

2). Did they understand why they were doing it?

3). Did they have opportunities to make their own decisions?

4). Was every player challenged at their appropriate level?

5). Are they becoming more confident and independent?

6). Did we allow them to make mistakes and learn from them?

7). Did every player feel valued and involved, do they still enjoy coming to training and playing football?

⚽ MAMBAS ACADEMY – FALL SOCCER & FUTSAL PROGRAM 2026 ⚽

The New Brunswick African Association Inc. (NBAA) and Mambas Academy are excited to welcome youth back for our Fall Soccer & Futsal Program!

Our first training sessions for the fall season begin this coming weekend!

The program provides refugee, immigrant, newcomer, and community youth with an opportunity to participate in organized soccer in a welcoming and supportive environment.

🍂 OUTDOOR SOCCER
We will begin the fall season with outdoor training, giving players the opportunity to continue developing their skills, fitness, teamwork, and understanding of the game.

⚽ FUTSAL / INDOOR SEASON
As the weather changes, our program will transition into futsal and indoor training, allowing our players to continue developing throughout the fall and winter season.

Through Mambas Academy, our goal goes beyond soccer. We use sport to help young people build:

• Soccer and futsal skills
• Confidence and leadership
• Teamwork and discipline
• Friendships and community connections
• Healthy and active lifestyles
• A sense of belonging and inclusion

We especially want to make soccer more accessible for refugee and immigrant youth who may face financial, transportation, or other barriers to participating in organized sport.

Returning Mambas players are encouraged to come back, and new players are welcome to join us this fall!
