Effective immediately, the Grande Cache Minor Hockey Association will be temporarily closing player registration.

We have taken this action as we recently learned that historic paperwork from our Association had not been filed with Alberta Societies and as a result we have lost “active” status as a registered society. To address this risk to our club, the Executive members are diligently working with Societies to file the necessary paperwork and revive our status, and we expect to open player registration for the end of June.

Grande Cache Sports Equipment 4 Kidz is looking for volunteers to help build shelving & organize sports equipment this Sunday at 1:00 - 3:00. Any help would be greatly appreciated as we organize all our equipment and take inventory of our Spring/Summer stock. Please message if you are available to help😊

The Louis Delorme Memorial Committee is hosting the Rocky Mountain Spring Classic slo-pitch tournament May 21st, 22nd & 23rd. They have offered to make a donation to the GCMHA if we can supply cooks for the canteen each day. I am seeking volunteers to help cook hamburgers, hotdogs and fries from 10am to approx. 5pm each day. I would break this up into 2hr shifts, 3 people would be required per shift. If you or your kiddos (12 & up) are interested in helping please let me know asap. If you're participating in the tournament I can schedule shifts around games. This is a great opportunity for our association to raise money and get involved with the community.

This year GCMHA was drawn to work the Grande Prairie Casino Dec 23/24 the 24 closes early however these dates are hard to fill. If we choose to turn down the dates we will be put back to the bottom and most likely not get this fundraiser for another 2 years. We are asking for members of the public or even family that resign in Grande Prairie if they would be willing to help cover these dates and minor hockey parents will return the favour for other associations and help with their fundraising. We will pay for hotel accommodations and food while working. If you know anyone or willing to help please message.

Try Day was a huge success! We had around 30 kids on the ice tonight, for many of them it was their first time.
None of this would have been possible without our on ice volunteers and Grande Cache Sports Equipment 4 Kids supplying full gear for nearly every player! It's amazing to see such a great organization in our community. Thank you for helping put smiles on so many faces tonight.

Due to the number of kids needing gear of various sizes on Friday, we won't be able to bring it all up to the arena. It is easier for the kids to try the gear on at the RCMP detachment and take home what they need. I will be at the detachment tomorrow (Thursday) at noon for approximately an hour. If you can, please bring your kids at that time. If that is not possible please contact the detachment at 780-827-3344 or message the Grande Cache Sports Equipment 4 Kids page to make alternate arrangements.

Oil Country HAP - Grande Cache

Have you heard of the Oil Country Hockey Assist Program yet?
The Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation (EOCF), KidSport Alberta & Sport Central have teamed up to alleviate the cost of playing hockey for kids from underrepresented groups. They want to ensure that ALL kids in Oil Country can play hockey.
If your child is interested in playing this year but funds are tight please check out this website for more information. This gives more kids an opportunity to play the sport they love.

Oil Country HAP - Grande Cache Low-income families can access registration fee assistance and no-cost equipment through the Flames EvenStrength Program.

If your child has registered for Try Day on the 22nd and still needs gear please let us know asap. We will need to know approximately what size your child is so we can bring bins of gear at the arena for them to use. I will be grabbing the gear tomorrow.

Reminder, for those who need gear for the hockey try day we will be at the RCMP detachment 3-5 to get everyone geared up.

GCMHA Spring AGM will be April 6, 2022 @ 7pm in the curling rink lounge. We will be discussing vacant board positions, and what the 2022/23 season will look like.

There will be a draw for those that attend both AGM meetings (Spring/Fall) to waive registration fees for one player in the 2023/24 season.

Monday March 21 practice times will be the same however players who are second year by date of birth moving into another division will practice with the division they will move into. Females can move to the male division if wanting to try that division. We will be going up to the U15 division so those who would move to U18 can stay with U15.

Our U11 had a tough loss against Clairmont today in Game 1. Come cheer them on tomorrow @ 2pm for Game 2. Let's show these kids how much this community supports them! Show up early to save your seats, we're expecting it to be busy!! Go Rockies Go!!

GCMHA had went through financials last night. We were lucky enough to receive money from Tourmaline and Hockey Alberta. Part of this money was budgeted to be able to give travel vouchers to all GCMHA players. The vouchers will be given in a form of a cheque. If any player has outstanding fees the voucher money was used to cover remaining fees. If you still owed money after the voucher added on you will be emailed the outstanding balance. The amount agreed upon was 180.00 per player. Our goal was to have all teams who were traveling this weekend receive there vouchers before. Shandis will be at the arena tonight from 4-6:30 to hand out those vouchers. Anyone who had credits left from last year were paid out on this cheque as well.

Our U11 team will be playing for the Championship Banner this weekend against Clairmont! Game 1 will be played in Clairmont Saturday morning. Game 2 will be played on home ice this Sunday at 2:00pm. These kids started the season off playing ball hockey and have worked incredibly hard to make it to this far. Clairmont finished last in their division during regular season and have fought hard through playoffs to make it to the finals. These games are going to be great!! Let's fill the stands on Sunday @ 2pm and show our Rockies how much support they have from the community!

Grande Cache Sports Equipment for Kidz will be collecting bottles this Saturday January 29th 12-3.

Looking for a Friday night game, Grande Cache u13 is playing GP today at 6:30pm.

We have received emails regarding the tickets for the world junior game. Right now we cannot access any of these tickets due to the new restrictions. I have received one email stating they would make a decision by tonight. Some people have already received emails about the tickets. Hopefully the game doesn’t get cancelled for those who won. Once I receive more information I will post it.

GCMHA has 4 tickets to Dec 27 World junior game Germany vs Czech in Edmonton. We are looking to do a random draw. For those who are available for this game and want to attend please write a comment and we will draw names. We will draw two names and each person will receive 2 tickets so they don’t have to attend alone.

*Note *full vaccination status is required to attend, they are not accepting negative test results.

We will start at 6:15 from now on with a flood in between. This will make some practices later however this is the best schedule to ensure all teams get 2 slots 1 hour long.

Dressing rooms are allowed however door handles and surfaces need to be wiped down by a volunteer. Reminder to players there is no rough house or playing hockey in the dressing rooms. If teams are caught misbehaving in dressing rooms they will lose their privilege to dress at the arena and will change at home.
