My private booking this morning was for Katie who is celebrating a Birthday today🎈The morning started with a private yoga & sound bath session with Rooted Heart Yoga and Wellness at her new studio that she shares with Wild + Free Collective (both my sisters 👯‍♀️). Then they followed up with creating a gorgeous bouquet for themselves to take home! That sounds like a pretty amazing start to a great day!! 🧘‍♀️💐 ☕️

If you are basing your self-worth off of a high like count on social media, read this👇

For a long time, the meaning of self-worth eluded me. Maybe because of the varying definitions I’ve heard over the years. One of them is to feel deserving of having what you want in life when it comes to career, love, relationships, etc.

Now because of this definition, I would say affirmations to myself such as, “I deserve to have “that” in my life”. What baffled me was when I’d say it, sometimes the words would fall flat, like there was no real meaning behind what I was saying, and what confused me, was what did “that” out there having anything to do with the worthiness I felt as an individual? Was having all these things a true representation of having a high level of self-worth?

One day I came across this question where it all started to make sense – Imagine for a moment that everything you had was suddenly taken away. Everything including your possessions, career, money, relationships, friendships, accomplishments, and anything else that is physical and tangible. What would you have left that would be of any value?

I found that by contemplating this one question IS where real self-worth is derived from. Who you are at your core and how you see yourself are keys to understanding your true value.

For instance, let’s take the example of an author, someone who writes books. At some point in their life, they looked at what they value about themselves and noticed they have an incredible ability to naturally weave words together. Instead of not believing in this ability, they decided to value it, to ponder it and work on this gift of theirs to bring more value into the world, and to become a writer. What kind of world would we live in if we didn’t have our books?

What if Mother Theresa never saw the value in her nurturing abilities? Would the 20th century never get to experience one of its greatest humanitarians?

How about Axl Rose? A brilliant vocalist. What if he sang his first song and someone told him they didn’t like his voice. So he decided to never value this gift of his and let it become some distant memory. That would mean no GNR and the songs they created that brought a lot of joy into the world.

The thing is we ALL have unique gifts, talents and abilities that deserve to be truly valued. Sometimes they are riding beneath the surface of our awareness and harder to see at times, but they are always there, and they deserve to be seen for their worth.

Now, you might be wondering, well, what does this have anything to do with basing your self-worth on a high like count on social media?

It’s because you should never place your self-worth into something outside of yourself that can be taken away. By doing so you’ll always be constantly needing external validation to feel good about yourself, and to feel like you are enough. If you flip the script and start focusing on being your own validation, the need for likes or caring too much about what people think of you, starts to naturally fall away. The more you ponder your self-worth, the more you will find, and it will create a strong internal foundation that becomes impenetrable. This will build to a high level of self-worth that is steady, unflinching and therefore holds the power to radically transform your life and can give you access to your true calling.

For me, yoga + meditation have been my main tools for developing more self-awareness around my gifts, talents and abilities. Journaling helps too. But truly, it’s the contemplation of that one question that will make a huge difference in seeing what you truly value about yourself. What’s beautiful about it, is now you will have a high level of self-worth that no one can take away. Choosing to believe in your worth will not only serve you, but it will help to bring more joy and love to the world around you. There’s so much freedom in that ❤️

I've got a gift for you!! ☺️

Have you ever felt this way? …. I’ve had enough. It’s just too much. I so tired. I’m done.

I get it. I’ve been there too. When the changes and restrictions of life have taken its toll, it can have an effect on how we are feeling day to day. It can feel overwhelming. How do you find a way out of it when nothing in the outside world seems to be shifting?

Sometimes in our life it can feel like we are walking around with a dark cloud hovering over our head. In yogic philosophy, it can be referred to as ‘maya’ or illusion, and it can feel very real and we can start to identify with it, like it’s who we really are or that’s the way it will always be, when its actually not. What yoga and meditation can do is start to pierce holes in the dark cloud to help release our identification with it. With practice the clouds will part, the sun will shine through and we can begin to connect with our true self and the feelings of peace, calm and flow ☀️

What I’ve done is create a meditation for you to do just that, to move from overwhelm to peace, calm and flow in your life. It’s FREE on YouTube. This one works a little different than just focusing on the good stuff to get you through. We will actually tap into the overwhelm as a way to release it. It’s a technique I’ve learned that works kinda like PNF stretching for your muscles – a technique where you contract and release the muscles as a way to gain flexibility in a shorter period of time than just stretching on your own. Except instead of your muscles we will be working with your energy to get it to flow.

If you are not feeling overwhelm in your life right now – you can use this meditation to release any stress and tension you’ve accumulated over the years. The key is consistency. Keep doing it to get the best results 😌

I’ll wrap this up with a quote by Kattia for you “Don’t let the dark memories spoil your present and your future. The past will always leave a mark. But maybe, just maybe today is your ‘someday’, that one day that changes everything…”

I think forgiveness has been the hardest virtue I’ve ever worked on. When someone hurts you, sometimes it’s easier to just walk away and move on in your life. Or at least that’s what I have told myself in the past. Easy, no, it’s not. What I’ve learned now is that there’s some people that come into your life, whether for a short time or a long time, that create an impact. And because of that impact they aren’t so easy to forget or let go of. That there are some relationships that deserve another chance, that are worth it.

I think if you both can reflect on what went wrong and own up to your part in it and are able find compassion for each other, then forgiveness is possible. Then I believe the relationship can transform into something that was even better than it was before. A relationship that’s mutually beneficial for the both of you. That’s forgiveness. There’s freedom in that ❤️

This training will be devoted to deepening your practice and understanding of ‘vinyasa’ yoga – its traditional roots blended with modern science.

In nature, vinyasa is any cycle, from the tiniest vibration to the cycle of our entire life. It represents the journey of how a potent seed evolves into a bud, and, at last, its fullest, grandest expression. In this program, you will learn how this cycle in nature mimics the cycles in your own life and in the collective.

We believe the way you live in this world is a reflection of who you are inside. This program focuses on the principles for living a balanced lifestyle in a modern society and how you can step into a more authentic version of yourself, and with that, connect to your true nature and to the creative freedom to inspire others.

We will fully prepare you to teach the practice of yoga from an authentic place of inspiration, education, creativity, and compassion.

This is a very deeply enriched program open to all levels, to aspiring teachers and curious practitioners.

You’ll gain the tools required to teach upon graduation, plus an incredibly supportive community to help you on your journey. Our intention is to create a sacred space to learn, grow and have fun!

Upon completion, you will be eligible to register as a 200Hr Registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance.

Location: Our new yoga studio – downtown Grande Prairie, AB

Schedule: 6 weekends in 2022

January 14-16, February 11-13, March 11-13, April 23-25, May 6-8, June 3-5

Times: Friday 4-8pm, Saturday 9-8pm, Friday 9-3pm

This training will also be available 100% online, so if you need to miss a weekend it will be recorded for you.

For your convenience, a monthly payment plan is available.
