There are grackles in the tree
beside my balcony.
Sharp beaks
hunt cool seeds
and yellow feathered strangers
sing unfamiliar songs
to me.
What sunshine
do they know
of which I have only dreamed.
What do these piercing cries
try to tell me
of this unfamiliar paradise.

A green leafed cave.
A winged thing trying to escape.
I’m listening.
Tell me your secrets.

There’s just something about December.

It’s almost here… and there’s a couple spots left if you’re feeling called.
A student and friend told me yesterday he’s been telling everyone this course is about the social conscience of yoga and that couldn’t be more generous or accurate.
We need action and yoga can be the guide… it can also be the anchor for knowing ourselves and what’s needed in the chaos of this world. Now more than ever we need movements for liberation to be grounded in love and justice which yoga knows best.

It’s almost time for my most deeply personal offering. One that was born out of a desire to be better, do better, and honour the tradition of yoga in a way that not just met this moment in time, but could help myself and others hold the grief, rage and fear that come with it.
I don’t have all the answers. But I do have the tools and teachings that have been handed to me by masters and teachers on this journey of mine and my work has always been to pass it on as best I can.

In a world that requires leaders and changemakers Yoga has the potential to be what leads us into action and what teaches us accountability for our participation in systems of harm and oppression, while empowering us to be part of the change needed to move our communities and the world towards accountability, sustainability, inclusivity and community care. We do this through our own journeys of self-reflection, self-study and most importantly embodiment, where we can witness our resistance, biases and anything else holding us back from being actively engaged, in some way, in social movements and change.
That is Yoga IN ACTION and will give you the tools and support to feel empowered as leaders - in a world desperately in need of them - to make changes first within yourself, and through that, in the spaces and communities you teach and move in, and beyond.

Beyond excited to be back with this 3 part, 21 hour Yoga Alliance CEC (certified continuing education) course that melds the beautiful tradition, philosophy and practice of yoga beyond asana with the modern-day movement of inclusive leadership and social justice in order to empower teachers and students alike to take their yoga off their mats and into the world.

HOLDING SPACE: Master Class & Workshop

As teachers and leaders we aren’t often taught how to hold space and yet because it can offer people the opportunity to be fully present, to be vulnerable, to self-examine, self-reflect, and to experience true transformation, it’s an integral part of teaching impactful classes or cultivating meaningful experiences.
This 4 1/2 hour master class on holding space will feature a yoga practice followed by a facilitated discussion all around the art and skill of holding space rooted in the traditional and philosophical roots of yoga. Join 500hr E-RYT yoga teacher Nikki Martin and yin specialist and Reiki Master Jody MacDonald on a journey of Yin, Flow, Breath-work and Mediation while you experience what it’s like to be held in a container and learn why it is such a vital part of teaching yoga in the world today.
This class is a great opportunity for teachers and facilitators to be guided in a way that will support you being better equipped to hold space going forward, but can also be for anyone wanting the powerful and transformative experience of being held. For teachers at the front of the room in this challenging time it can also be a great opportunity to connect with peers, feel supported and seen, and gain insight into your role as a teacher and leader in the world today.

Excited to be offering a second round of YOGA IN ACTION where it’s going to live… in the spring season! Holding this space and fostering this conversation has become more than a passion for me, it’s become what’s held me in the chaos of this current moment as well. Now more than ever we need communities of care and conscience and Yoga In Action is a wonderful tool in that regard. 2024 was one hell of a year. One I’m more than happy to bid farewell to while also being amazed by all it held and brought me.
Finishing it off with some space away from this online world but I wanted to pop in and wish all of you who’ve stuck around or arrived anew a holiday season that offers you everything you need. Mine will be all about rest and reflection.
