I don’t know what I’m more jealous about!! Those that Josh and Ethan are rocking, or the fact that there is lots of water in Alberta.
If the temps stay warm… it could be a while before those ducks start making their way south.
Either way, it’s looking pretty damn good in the Duck Factory right now.
Check out this week’s episode of The Punisher Waterfowl Podcast wherever you get your shows from.
Punisher Waterfowl
Punisher Waterfowl was established in 2014, with a goal of connecting to more hunters in the local area. We are not experts, guides, or professionals.
Today we are a group of friends that love one another's company. Punisher Waterfowl is an online waterfowl hunting content source, connecting duck and goose hunters all over Canada and the United States of America.
Memphis Made Me Do It
I went to Memphis for the DU Expo expecting to talk ducks, meet some people in the industry, shake a few hands, and hopefully come home with some new relationships.
Of course you all knew I was coming home with cowboy boots.
So…. when you’re in Memphis, you might as well do Memphis right.
So I made a stop at Tecovas Memphis and bought my first pair of cowboy boots. Thanks to Brian Halbleib and Elliott Snider for tagging along.
For this Canadian duck hunter who spends most of his time in hunting boots, this was definitely a little outside my normal lane. But that’s also what made this trip so much fun.
The DU Expo was about a lot more than just walking a show floor. It was meeting people I’ve talked to for years, putting faces to names, having a few drinks, telling some stories, and actually enjoying the experience.
And somewhere along the way… apparently I became a cowboy.
Memphis made me do it. 🤠
This weeks episode of The Punisher Waterfowl Podcast has Ethan and Josh from Iron Prairie Waterfowl

There’s something about show season that duck hunters love.
Sure, it’s a chance to catch up with people you haven’t seen since last season, talk ducks, tell a few lies and get fired up for September.
But let’s be serious…
We’re there to look at gear.
It’s our chance to actually get our hands on the new products we’ve been seeing online. Pick them up. Try them on. See how they work. And finally check out that piece of gear that’s been sitting in the back of our mind for the last six months.
Sometimes you walk away thinking, “Yep. I need that.”
Other times you realize you just saved yourself a couple hundred bucks.
Either way, that’s part of what makes show season so damn good.
Duck season might still be the main event…
But show season gets us fired up for it.
What’s the one piece of gear you’ve been wanting to see in person before pulling the trigger?
What did you miss out on seeing this year?
with us being already in the middle of August, duck season is just around the corner.
Has there been a product or brand that you haven’t had a chance to see their products up close and in person?
The show season is starting to wind down, but one thing is certain regardless of efforts DU Expo, Delta Waterfowl, Rogers, Wisconsin, Harrisburg, or Easton……. When the shows come to town, do yourself a favour and get out there and see what’s hitting the market this year.
Check out from Migration Waterfowl , you’ll thank me later.
Sure you can use a nail, or hanger, or you can actually have an organized system so yo s**t isn’t everywhere.
Love this Gear Roost, looks a-lot better than before, and i can properly show off my new Swamp Stick, Kupt Up Custom Duck Straps and new Chêne Gear ® bibs.
Get in touch with Brian and order yours today. Come complete with all hardware required.
After hearing Shawn M Stahl talk about BlindGrass and now that Canadian Waterfowl Supplies has it in stock, i had to order some.
Thanks to Pat and Ryan for getting it to me quick.
How many times have you heard “Buy once, cry once?”
I know you can cut your own grass and cat tails, I know you can buy raffia, but will it last as long at this stuff?
Super excited to brush in my new blind for my Water Feather Boats
Thanks BlindGrass and Canadian Waterfowl Supplies
We live in a time where online shopping has been our friend and at the same time, it has been our enemy. The ease of shopping online has opened up the market to so many people who aren’t in the vicinity of a major box store or even a small hunting store in their town. At the same time online shopping has increased return returns due to wrong sizes, not what you expected, etc.
I’m not here to say that we need to stop with the technology, but I do want to say the importance of trade shows to small business is immeasurable.
Just like Craig mentions here, by him going to the Ducks Unlimited Expo | DUX, it opened up a world of new and exciting brands that he did not know exist existed.
We all know that the brands love the trade shows because they get a chance to put their new product in the hands of the very people they hope to be buying it once it’s available but equally as important. The trade shows will introduce people to brands that they never knew existed.
At the end of the day, it’s a wonderful time to be a duck hunter.
Every hunt teaches you something.
Every season makes you better.
Every mistake is a chance to learn, adjust, and grow.
After more than 270 episodes, I realized it was time for us to do the same.
The Union 0430 has introduced me to some incredible people, created friendships I never expected, and has given me the opportunity to tell some pretty damn good stories along the way.
But it’s time for the next chapter.
The Union 0430 podcast is becoming the Punisher Waterfowl Podcast
We aren’t changing who we are.
Same stories.
Same attitude.
Same people.
We’re still going to talk to the people who actually lived this lifestyle. We’re still gonna ask questions, learn from people who know more than we do, make mistakes, laugh at ourselves, and probably p**s off a few people along the way.
We aren’t experts. Never have been. Never will pretend to be.
We are just waterfowl hunters who loved the stories, the people, and everything that comes with this crazy pursuit.
This isn’t starting over.
It’s taking the next step.
And I hope you’ll come along with us
Welcome to the Punisher Waterfowl podcast.
I’ve carried a Spyderco Inc. for over 25 years. Its my EDC, that has travelled with me to Afghanistan, Iraq, Europe, and all over North American. I’ve sent it back numerous times for chipped blades, resharpening, and broken grips.
Its widdled wood, cut high explosives, open rations, and even a screwdriver!
The last couple of years I’ve been looking for a new Bird knife, and I found it.
The Bow River is just the right weight if you like a heavier blade, and the thickness should be exactly what I need to dress those birds.
What do you use for cleaning birds?
