KL Swampdonkeys is basketball club, working in the Kirkland Lake and surrounding area, to promote basketball for girls and boys from the ages of 5-19.

Ontario Basketball Association sanctioned team. The KL Swampdonkeys is the moniker for the teams offered by the Mile of Gold Basketball Club, which serves the Kirkland Lake and surrounding region, providing basketball for ages 5-18 years of age. We offer:
multiple camps for beginners to accomplished players, ages 5-18
House League play for ages U10 and U13
Rep team play for ages U12 to U19

Swampdonkeys go cheer for the WNBA’s Toronto Tempo!

Three rep teams, volunteer coaches, directors and programming coaches all boarded a bus early in the morning to take a trip down to Toronto to cheer on the Toronto Tempo - Toronto’s new WNBA team.

The group got early access to the stadium to check out the Tempo players warming up before their game. The U14 girls got to do a high-five line for the opposing Washington Mystics after halftime. Most of the players also got some screen time on the Jumbotron too!

This trip was a big thank you to all the volunteers that help make the basketball club and all the programs run as successfully as they do!

A big shout out to the organizers who made this extremely memorable trip possible!

On July 22nd at 5:00 the Directors of the Mile of Gold Basketball Club will be hosting their Annual General Meeting. It’s going to be at the curling club. Want to know what the club is all about, come out!

We still can’t believe it! The Mile of Gold Basketball Club was one of the organizations that received a cheque on Friday at the KL Bingo hall. We are overwhelmed at the opportunities that this will do for youth in our communities!

We finished up our clinic with Beaverhouse First Nation last week. We had so many excited new Donkeys participate, here are some photos of the fun that was had while learning new skills.

For the past month and a half, Swampdonkey Coaches, players - both past and present - have been hosting skills clinics at Matachewan First Nation and Beaverhouse First Nation. Here are some photos from our time at Matachewan!

And that’s a wrap!

The spring skills camps finished up and the Swampdonkey family grew a little bit more. We saw some new players who learned a whole new set of skills and returning players who got to hone their skills a bit more!

Thanks to everyone who came out and gave it their all. And thanks to the volunteer coaches for putting on an amazing clinic!!
