I've been sitting with this idea of Community Giving Yoga for a while, and my thoughts keep returning to the ocean.

There is something about standing at the edge of the water that reminds me of who we are.

The ocean is vast, expansive and full of movement and stillness all at the same time.

Each wave rises, moves, crashes, retreats and disappears back into the water. Yet no wave is separate from the ocean.

Each wave is part of the whole.

I think our community is much the same.

When I created Radiant Warrior, I didn't want it to simply be a place where we come to move our bodies.

I wanted it to be a place where we could connect, feel supported, feel seen, and remember that we don't have to navigate life alone.

It is a place where we can remember that our individual lives, stories and acts of kindness are all connected to something much larger than ourselves.

There are people in our community who need support, safety, compassion and someone willing to stand beside them.

And perhaps, just like the ocean, when we each offer what we can, our individual contributions become something expansive.

That's why I am honoured to offer our first Community Giving Yoga class in support of Women's Crisis Services of Waterloo Region.

This Friday, we'll gather for a gentle Yin practice, and 100% of the proceeds will be donated.

So if you've been thinking about joining us, this is your invitation.

The passing of Dolly Parton has affected me more than I anticipated.

She was an absolute legend; funny, witty, wildly successful, and most importantly, a WOMAN who carved her own path in a male-dominated world and walked through it with class, integrity, kindness, and compassion.

A bright light.

As an entrepreneur and as a woman, her passing has had a profound impact on me. Dolly reminds us to step fully into our greatness, authentically and unapologetically.

Allow laughter to soften the mistakes and missteps.
Allow kindness to seep into every facet of your day.
Let integrity be non-negotiable.
And let love be seen in your thoughts, your words, your actions, and your deeds.

Know who you are. Walk each step with purpose.

You will not please everyone...so stop trying.

Instead, listen to your heart. Trust your path. Create a life that leaves this world just a little brighter, kinder, and better than it was before you arrived.

That, to me, is part of Dolly’s legacy and a beautiful one to carry forward. 💛

Discomfort is a curious thing.

When we are in the middle of it, our first instinct is often to get out as quickly as possible. We resist, distract, analyze, try to fix it, anything to make it feel a little less uncomfortable.

Perhaps discomfort holds just as much value as joy.

One is not meant to exist without the other.

Just like the inhale and exhale.
The ebb and flow of the tide.
The crest and release of a wave.

When we experience joy, we savour it. We linger. We soak up every last drop of that beautiful energy, wishing we could hold onto it just a little longer.

When a wave of discomfort comes, we often want to stop it.

We would never look at an ocean wave as it crests and think, How do I stop this from falling? We understand that this is simply what waves do. They rise, crest, fall, and eventually another one comes.

Maybe we are not so different. There is wisdom in both the rising and the falling.

Pain and discomfort are not easy places to be. Sometimes they just hurt. But if we can become still enough to breathe, to soften around what we are feeling, and stay present, even for a moment then we may begin to notice what lies underneath.

The stories we are telling ourselves.
The ways we see ourselves.
The beliefs we have carried for years.
The places where we are shrinking, protecting, resisting or being invited to show up more authentically and fully alive.

Perhaps within discomfort, we catch glimpses of our humanness and our divinity; the messy, imperfect, beautiful, and deeply interconnected.

And maybe this is where we begin to understand the beauty of impermanence.

Everything is constantly arising, changing, and dissolving.

I find it curious that my mind seems to chatter endlessly when I am uncomfortable, searching for answers and exits.

Yet in moments of joy, I can simply be.

I am not saying to love the discomfort, but to stop fighting it long enough to listen.

To become curious.
To breathe.
To trust that this wave, too, will change.

A curious thing indeed.

Fresh Eyes

Each morning offers us an invitation to see our lives with fresh eyes.

We can gently clean the lenses through which we see ourselves and the world, wiping away the fingerprints, dirt, and smudges left behind from the days before. Not to erase what has happened, but to meet this new day with clearer intention, deeper wisdom, and a softer heart.

The smudges remind us that we are human. We make mistakes. We experience disappointment. We carry moments we wish we could do differently, and within all of it, we have a choice: to learn, to grow, to shift the way we see.

Even the dirt that makes it difficult to see clearly can hold something valuable. Within the mess are often little nuggets of wisdom, little lessons we may not have been ready to see before, but once seen, we cannot unsee.

We can allow these experiences to become part of us without allowing them to define us. They can change the way we see ourselves, the way we see our world, and the way we understand our place within it.

Regret, however, can keep us from fully arriving in the present moment. When we continually replay what was, we miss what is. Left unresolved, regret can become a poison we quietly sprinkle over ourselves, slowly eroding our clarity, our sense of self, and our ability to see the beauty that is still here.

So, when you wake up this morning, imagine gently cleaning your lenses.

Take a deep breath.

Let yesterday be yesterday.

And allow your inner wisdom, your light, and your divine beauty to guide you forward.

There is magnificence within you and all around you.

Sometimes, we simply need to clean the lens enough to see it.

Finding your rhythm. Softening into change. Coming back to yourself.

As summer begins to gently shift toward fall, I find myself reflecting on the waves.

Are there any wave jumpers out there? 🌊

There is something magical about the excitement and anticipation of waiting for that next big wave on the horizon, especially when it is shared with my kids and I get to see the pure joy on their faces.

Recently, as I was swimming in the beauty of Lake Huron, I noticed something interesting.

I could experience the exact same waves in two very different ways.

When I stood on the sandy bottom and watched a wave rushing toward me, I instinctively braced. My body tensed as I tried to keep my footing, avoid being smacked in the face, or swept under.

There was resistance.

But when I floated on the water and allowed the waves to move through me, everything changed.

I could feel the ebb and flow. I could listen to the movement of the water and move with it rather than against it.

The waves were still there, but I wasn't fighting them.

I couldn't help but think about how much this mirrors life.

There is absolutely something to be said for standing your ground, knowing what you believe in and having a vision for where you want to go, but there is also wisdom in knowing when to soften, when to listen, when to shift, and when to allow yourself to move with the natural ebbs and flows of life rather than constantly bracing for impact.

The challenges don't necessarily disappear, but perhaps they can become softer when we stop fighting the wave and learn to move with it.

As we enter September and the routines of fall begin to take shape, my invitation to you is to notice:

Where are you bracing?
Where might you soften?
Where could you allow yourself to move with life rather than against it?

Perhaps your yoga practice can be a place to explore that.

September at Radiant Warrior

This month, I'm inviting you to come back to your practice, reconnect with your body and breath, and find a rhythm that supports you.

08/14/2026

I am reminded, in the most beautiful way, of how fleeting life can be, and how precious it is, all in the very same moment.

As I launch my kayak on a beautiful summer day, the lake smooth as glass beneath me, I settle into the gentle rhythm of paddling:

right, left, right, left.

There is something about this steady, methodical rhythm that reminds me of life. Set your intention. Find your rhythm. Move toward what matters.

And yet, life cannot be reduced to a simple pattern of right and left.

As I paddle around the lake, I am reminded that the real gift is learning to listen to my own inner compass. It is in the stillness, between the strokes, that I can sense where I am truly being called.

Sometimes the path requires a stronger left paddle. Sometimes two strokes to the right. Sometimes I drift. Sometimes I stop paddling altogether and simply allow the water to carry me.

And perhaps that is the beauty of it.

If we follow only the logical mind of right, left, right, left, we may arrive at our destination, but we risk missing the magic along the way.

The gift is in listening.

Listening allows us to course-correct. To soften when we are pushing too hard. To pause when we are moving too quickly. To trust the quiet knowing that lives beneath the noise.

When we sink deeply into our own inner wisdom, something shifts. The path begins to reveal itself. The vision becomes clearer, more vibrant, more alive.

A plan is important.
A vision is necessary.
But your inner compass is what guides you there.

Perhaps we don't always need to know exactly how we will arrive.

Perhaps we simply need to trust ourselves enough to take the next stroke and be willing to listen when it is time to change direction.
