Helping successful women feel happier at work and at home.

Not every boundary is healthy.

Sometimes…
it’s fear wearing a very convincing disguise.

I recently had an opportunity to sit on an executive board and my immediate reaction was:
“Nope. Too much. I need to protect my time.”

And listen — boundaries matter.
Protecting your peace matters.

But this one didn’t feel true.

So instead of immediately saying no, I paused and asked myself:
“Do I actually like my reason?”

That question changed everything.

Because underneath the boundary…
was fear.

Fear that I wasn’t qualified enough.
Fear that I wasn’t worthy enough.
Fear that I might not belong in that room.

And for me, that’s always a clue.

A clue that I may be lying to myself about who I am and what I’m capable of.

So I said yes.

Not because it was comfortable.
But because I no longer want fear making my decisions for me.

The next time you feel yourself pulling back, hiding, or saying no…
pause long enough to ask:

Is this boundary protecting my peace?
Or is it protecting my fear?

I dive deeper into this in my Wednesday well-being email this week.

Message me “BOUNDARIES” and I’ll send it to you.

Burnout doesn’t usually happen overnight.

It happens slowly…when we keep pushing through exhaustion,
ignoring what we need,
and convincing ourselves that rest can wait.

But your body always keeps score.

The good news?
Burnout is not a badge of honour.
It’s information.

An invitation to pause.
To pay attention.
To come back to yourself before life forces you to.

You do not have to earn rest.
You do not have to explain your boundaries.
And you certainly don’t have to do it all, all the time.

If this post feels a little too familiar, maybe this is your reminder to take one small breath, one small break, or one small step back toward yourself today.

You matter.
Your well-being matters.

So many people lately are casually saying:
“I feel like I’m on the verge of burnout.”

But what if burnout isn’t the problem…
What if it’s the indicator?

Like the cherry on top of an emotional sundae 🍒

Stress.
Overwhelm.
Pressure.
People pleasing.
Pushing through.
Ignoring what we truly need.

It all piles up.

The good news?
Burnout is not a sign that you’re failing.
It’s awareness inviting you to pay attention.

To pause.
To breathe.
To check in with yourself instead of continuing to override yourself.

Sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is stop asking,
“What else do I need to get done?”
and start asking,
“What do I need right now?”

One small layer at a time changes everything.

What are we doing to the next generation?

Last night I spoke to a room full of young adults, ages between 18–32, and while I was so encouraged by their creativity and thoughtfulness… I also noticed something else.

Almost every conversation carried this low hum of anxiety.

Not enough time.
Too much to do.
Fear about the future.
Second-guessing themselves.

And I thought:

They didn’t create this on their own.

They absorbed it from us.

From generations who normalized stress, overwhelm, hurry, and emotional exhaustion.

No shame.
No blame.

Just awareness.

Because awareness gives us the opportunity to change.

Maybe it’s time we start paying attention to the words we speak every day.

“I’m overwhelmed.”
“I’m behind.”
“I don’t have enough time.”

What if we started finishing those statements with:

“…and I can handle this”
“…and I’ll figure it out.”

The next generation needs more than advice from us.

They need a different example. 💫

More peace.
More presence.
More emotional well-being.

Because they deserve better.
And I believe we can do better. ❤️

One of the most powerful conversations from this week’s Becoming Intensive was around the thoughts we automatically believe.

Because so many of us are walking around carrying thoughts like:

“I’m behind.”
“I’m failing.”
“I should be further along.”
“I’m not enough.”

But what if we slowed down long enough to question the thought instead of immediately believing it?

✨ Is it true?
✨ Is it kind?
✨ Is it helpful?

That one shift alone can change the entire way we move through our day.

The women inside this Becoming Intensive continue to amaze me with their honesty, courage, vulnerability, and willingness to do this deeper work together.

Not perfectly.
Not pretending.
Just becoming more aware… one thought at a time. 🤍

Maybe this week is simply an invitation to pause before believing every thought your mind offers you.

Every Wednesday, I send out a little reminder. 💛

Not to hustle harder.
Not to have it all figured out.
Not to become someone else.

But to pause long enough to hear yourself again.

Because emotional well-being isn’t built in one giant breakthrough.
It’s built in the small moments…

The moment you notice your thoughts without judging yourself.
The moment you stop calling yourself “too much” or “not enough.”
The moment you finally admit what you really want.
The moment you choose truth over performance.

Women often tell me these emails feel like “a deep breath in the middle of the week.”

And honestly?
That’s exactly what I hope they are.

A place for:
✨ honest reflections
✨ emotional well-being tools
✨ real stories
✨ encouragement
✨ practical mindset shifts

If that sounds like something your heart needs right now…

Feeling anxiety doesn’t mean you’re broken.

It often means your nervous system is just trying to protect you.

The problem is many of us have lived in stress and survival mode for so long that we’ve mistaken “on edge” for normal.

Overthinking.
Racing thoughts.
Worst-case scenarios.
Feeling like you always have to hold everything together.

But emotional well-being isn’t about never feeling anxious.

It’s about learning how to understand what your body is communicating… without letting fear make every decision.

That’s emotional courage.

Feeling it.
Understanding it.
And taking your next right step anyway.

Save this for the days anxiety gets loud. 🤍

And follow along for more simple emotional well-being tools that help you feel calmer, think clearer, and trust yourself again.

You can feel overwhelmed…
without making it mean you’re failing.

So many women I coach go straight from:

“I’m overwhelmed”
to
“My whole life is falling apart.”

But those are not the same thing.

Sometimes overwhelm is simply a signal.

A signal that:
• you’ve been carrying too much
• you haven’t slowed down long enough to listen to yourself
• you’ve been strong for everyone else for too long

Feeling overwhelm doesn’t mean you’re broken.

It means you’re human. 🤍

The goal isn’t to never feel hard emotions.
The goal is to learn how to move through them without turning them into your identity.

Take a breath today.
Not everything needs to be solved this minute.

Nonprofit professionals carry so much. ❤️

The pressure to do more with less.
The emotional weight of helping people.
The constant balancing act between passion and exhaustion.

And honestly… I think many people are closer to burnout than they even realize.

This conversation matters deeply to me because the nonprofit sector was my world for many years.

I know the heart behind the work.
I know the pressure.
And I know there is a different way.

Burnout doesn’t have to be the cost of caring deeply.

That’s why I love helping nonprofit teams build emotional resilience, improve well-being, and create healthier ways of working and leading — without losing themselves in the process.

Thank you to the Greater Langley Chamber of Commerce for hosting The Emotional Well-Being Workshop for Nonprofits.

And thank you for capturing this conversation so beautifully 🎥

If you know a nonprofit leader or someone working in the nonprofit sector who needs this reminder right now… forward this to them. ✨
