Quebec's Filipino population is now greater than 30,000. Most live in metro Montreal and half, 15,000 are in Cote des Neiges - Notre Dame de Grace. Most of those lived in Mont Royal provincial riding thus giving them electoral clout.

The new electoral map cuts a riding from our area. Mont Royal is merged with Outremont and D'Arcy McGee swallows up most of the Snowdon area that was previously in Mont Royal. The new boundary running north south along Cote des Neiges divides the Filipino community in half.

I thus invite my Filipino friends to join us this Tuesday, March 21at 7 PM at 6767 Cote des Neiges to join the community discussion on the electoral map. FAMAS has already gone public in opposing the electoral map.

There may ultimately have to be a legal contestation but the first step is a community discussion. I hope you will accept this invitation. See you Tuesday.
