We're looking forward to an hour each with our three senior teachers at Vinieyoga Academy on exploring the use of sound in our asana practice this weekend. Since this is a short course, it will introduce students to this concept and provide students (both old and new) with some tools that we can put to use right away, and to hone some of the skills we may have already acquired on this front.

The use of sound and chanting in asana practice is something that we can explore for years with the right teachers, and I'm thrilled for this short session with our experts Rama Yoga Chennai, Savithri Ravikrishnan and Lara sir.

This unique collection of graphic narratives by illustrators from across the country, in their distinctive styles, tells 16 stories of the forgotten foot soldiers of India’s freedom. Adapted from P. Sainath’s meticulously collected chronicles, it honours their contributions. Coming from varied regions and communities, speaking different languages and practising diverse beliefs, these not-so-ordinary people were united by one cause – a free India.

This graphic non-fiction is a rich visual document in which text and images communicate powerfully. As India enters its 77th year of Independence, it is meaningful to bring these stories to young people. It offers a true and complete picture of our hard-earned freedoms and why they need to be defended.
