The Bernadette Short School offers classes for beginners up to internationally competitive champion level dancers. Dancers can begin classes as young as age 5 but can begin at any age, including adulthood. Bernadette Short came to Montreal from her native Dublin in early 1974 and soon began teaching the Irish step dances she had learned while growing up. Bernadette was certified by the Irish Dance

📣INTRO TO IRISH DANCE MINI CAMP!📣 Spread the word!!! Participants will learn basic Irish dancing, play games using their new Irish dance skills, and do some Irish crafts and activities. The recommended age is 5-10 years old. The Intro Camp takes place on June 25, 26, 27 from 10am-12pm at our studio in Kirkland. Please feel free to share the attached flier.

🌎World Championship Feature!!🌎 Our final dancer for this year’s World Championships is ALICIA MARSH!! Alicia is a very dedicated dancer who is so passionate about our sport! 💚 She comes to class with a mindset ready to make the most of the time in studio and push herself to new heights. 💪 We are SO proud of her World qualification this year and can’t wait to watch her take the big stage once again! 💃
Alicia is most excited to compete against the best in the world! 🌎 Her proudest achievement is coming back from injury and feeling strong again. Alicia’s favourite dance is the reel 🪗 and her favourite part of Irish dancing is the community. Fun fact: Alicia loves animals (maybe more than Susie). She has pet rats and works at a farm. 🐀🐖🐄

🌎World Championship Feature!!🌎 Let’s hear it for our next World dancer, MICHAELA ISAACSON!! Michaela is a dedicated dancer who works diligently inside and outside the studio to improve her strength and performance. 💃 She is an excellent role model to the younger dancers who all adore her!! 🩵 Michaela is always up for participating in shows and community events and demonstrates a true appreciation of the Irish community in Montreal. ☘️
For this year’s World’s, Michaela is most excited to dance her heart out and show how far her hard work has taken her!! 💪 Her proudest achievement in dance is winning the 2025 Eastern Canadian Oireachtas. 🏆 Michaela’s favourite dance is the hornpipe and her favourite parts of Irish dance are the travelling ✈️, making new friends, and being a part of a family within the Short School. 💚 Fun fact: Michaela was a mini-cheerleader for the Montreal Alouettes (Canadian football team) when she was 7 years old! 🏈

Susie is an incredible worker who fully locks-in when she’s in studio. 💃 She is known to make the most of every minute of class time and drill pieces until they are just right! 💪 Susie is a great friend to all and always has a positive word for her classmates. 💙
Susie is very excited to watch the competition at the Worlds this year and to visit Chicago for the very first time! Her proudest moment is having such a well-achieving set dance; the Charlady. 🧹 Susie’s favourite dance is the reel and her favourite part of Irish dancing is the community and the rewarding feeling after trying really hard in class. 😅 Fun fact: Susie loves animals!! 🐶🐰🙈
