Super Production Challenge

After yesterday’s sunshine, overcast skies and a few raindrops greeted the SPC Series competitors on Sunday morning at Circuit Mont-Tremblant for the second of three races scheduled for the weekend as part of the Spring Classic.

The Compact class race kicked off the day’s activities. The event was under caution for an extended period following an incident that sent Tamara Maracle off the track in her Nissan Micra. The nine green-flag laps were highlighted by a battle for victory between Frédéric Bernier and Shelby Mills, who finished in that order. Patrick Desrochers, also driving a Micra, completed the podium ahead of Étienne Samson-Laflamme in a Toyota Echo. Meanwhile, Éric Coulombe saw his winning streak (four wins in four races) come to an end, finishing fifth.

The SP and Production race ran without a single caution period. Starting from pole position, Gabriel Lacombe led most of the race in his Honda Civic Type R. Starting eighth on the grid, Alexandre Fortin quickly worked his way to the front and managed to take the lead from Lacombe with five laps remaining. Fortin thus claimed his fifth victory in as many starts this season. He finished ahead of Lacombe, Arek Wojciechowski, Charles-André Bilodeau—who was making his first start of the 2026 season in a Ford Mustang—and Jonathan Manseau.

In the Production class, Zack Lalonde dominated the race, finishing ahead of Peter Hanson and Yannick Lupien, reproducing the same top three as in Race 1 yesterday. Marc-André Bourdages and Adrien Raoult completed the top five.

The third and final races of the weekend will take place this afternoon, with the Compact class scheduled for 1:00 p.m., followed by the SP and Production classes at 2:30 p.m.

Après le soleil hier, c’est un ciel couvert et quelques gouttes de pluie qui ont accueilli les concurrents de la série SPC ce dimanche matin au Mont-Tremblant pour la deuxième des trois courses du week-end, dans le cadre de la Classique de printemps.

La course de la classe Compact a inauguré les activités. Une épreuve longuement neutralisée suite à un contact ayant amené à la sortie de piste de Tamara Maracle (Nissan Micra). Les 9 tours sous drapeau vert ont été marqué par la lutte pour la victoire entre Frédéric Bernier (Nissan Micra) et Shelby Mills (Nissan Micra). Ils finissent dans cet ordre. Patrick Desrochers (Micra également) complète le podium, devant Étienne Samson-Laflamme (Toyota Écho). Éric Coulombe (Chevrolet Sonic) a par ailleurs vu sa série de victoires (4 en 4 courses) interrompue; il finit 5e.

La course SP et Production a été disputée sans la moindre neutralisation, avec Gabriel Lacombe (Honda Civic Type-R) en pole position et qui a mené la majeure partie de l’épreuve. Parti 8e, Alexandre Fortin (Nissan Z) a rapidement remonté aux avant-postes et est parvenu à subtiliser le commandement à Lacombe à 5 tours du terme. Fortin remporte ainsi un 5e gain, en 5 départs cette année. Il devance Lacombe, Arek Wojciechowski (BMW 325i), Charles-André Bilodeau, qui prenait son premier départ 2026 avec sa Ford Mustang, et Jonathan Manseau (Toyota GT86).

En classe Production, Zack Lalonde (Hyundai Veloster) a dominé cette course, devant Peter Hanson (Subaru BRZ) et Yannick Lupien (Mini Cooper), soit le même Top 3 que lors de la course 1 hier. Marc-André Bourdages (Honda Civic) et Adrien Raoult (Toyota GT86) complètent le Top 5.

La troisième et dernière course du week-end aura lieu cet après-midi, à 13 heures pour la classe Compact puis à 14h30 pour les SP et Production.

Two weeks after the launch of its season, the SPC series presented its second event of 2026 this weekend as part of the Spring Classic at Circuit Mont-Tremblant. Under sunny skies, qualifying sessions — highlighted by contact with the wall by Compact class 2025 runner-up Maïka Chamberland in her Honda Fit — and the first race took place on Saturday.

Competing separately this weekend from the SP and Production classes, the Compact class opened the action and delivered a spectacularly intense race on Saturday. Éric Coulombe (Chevrolet Sonic) and Frédéric Bernier (Nissan Micra), who had qualified on pole position, traded the lead throughout the 30-minute race while constantly under pressure from Patrick Desrochers (Nissan Micra). Coulombe took the victory, his fourth win in four races this season, ahead of Bernier, Desrochers, Étienne Samson-Laflamme (Toyota Echo), and Tamara Maracle (Nissan Micra).

With warm temperatures and blue skies as a backdrop, the SP and Production class race followed. Pole-sitter Jonathan Manseau (Toyota GT86) was quickly overtaken by Alexandre Fortin (Nissan Z). The defending champion and winner of the season’s first three races, Fortin was never able to build more than a few tenths of a second advantage. He ultimately claimed victory by just 0.336 seconds over Manseau. Gabriel Lacombe (Honda Civic Type R), Eric Hochgeschurz (BMW 325i), and Sylvain Ouellet (also in a Civic) rounded out the Top 6. In his first race in the series, Nicolas Barrette (Honda Civic Type R) finished ninth.

The Production class delivered some of the best battles of the day, with three drivers fighting for the win from the opening lap to the checkered flag. Zack Lalonde returned to victory lane in his freshly repaired Hyundai Veloster. He finished ahead of pole-sitter Peter Hanson (Subaru BRZ), Yannick Lupien (Mini Cooper), Adrien Raoult (Toyota GT86), and Crystel Charest (Mini Cooper).

Deux semaines après le lancement de sa saison, la série SPC présente ce week-end son deuxième événement 2026, dans le cadre de la Classique de printemps au Circuit Mont-Tremblant. Sous le soleil, qualifications (marquées par le contact avec le mur de la vice-championne de classe Compact Maïka Chamberland, sur Honda Fit) et première course ont eu lieu ce samedi.

Évoluant cette fin de semaine séparément des classes SP et Production, la classe Compact a ouvert le bal et présenté ce samedi une course magnifique d’intensité. Éric Coulombe (Chevrolet Sonic) et Frédéric Bernier (Nissan Micra), qualifié en pole position, se sont échangé la position de tête tout au long des 30 minutes, tout en étant constamment sous la pression de Patrick Desrochers (Nissan Micra). Coulombe l’emporte, pour une quatrième fois en 4 courses cette saison, devant Bernier, Desrochers, Étienne Samson-Laflamme (Toyota Écho) et Tamara Maracle (Nissan Micra).

Avec la chaleur et le ciel bleu pour témoins, la course des classes SP et Production a suivi. Auteur de la pole position, Jonathan Manseau (Toyota GT86) a rapidement été dépassé par Alexandre Foertin (Nissan Z). Champion en titre et vainqueur des trois premières courses de la saison, Fortin n’a toutefois jamais réussi à prendre plus de quelques dixièmes d’avance. Il s’impose par 0,336 seconde sur Manseau. Gabriel Lacombe (Honda Civic Type-R), Eric Hochgeschurz (BMW 325i) et Sylvain Ouellet (également sur Civic) complètent le Top 6. Pour sa première course dans la série, Nicolas Barrette (Honda Civic Type-R) finit neuvième.

La classe Production a offert les plus belles luttes de la journée. 3 pilotes ont rivalisé du premier au dernier tour pour la victoire. Zack Lalonde renoue avec la victoire, avec sa Hyundai Veloster fraîchement réparée. Il devance Peter Hanson (Subaru BRZ), qualifié premier, Yannick Lupien (Mini Cooper), Adrien Raoult (Toyota GT86) et Crystel Charest (Mini Cooper).
