The Cookie Monster Snack Attack....
Ju**ie Knowledge: 50% of adults snack more than 2-3 times per day to satisfy their cravings which has become a way of life. Certain types of snacks and the amount consumed can lead to weight gain, diabetes, heart disease and other serious diseases. Help!!!
The Fix:
- Snack on foods that contain fiber and protein which will keep you full longer and slowly remove unhealthy foods from your diet. (healthy options: fruits, veggies, popcorn..etc.)
- Avoid boxes, bags and bowels of snacks. Eating directly from these containers will add to your weight since they are not properly divided to the size of your stomach and before you know it, the container is gone. Separate into smaller portions and put the boxes, bags and bowels away to sidestep temptation. (100 calories typically fit in the palm of your hand for those calorie counting)
- Consume a large glass of water or a cup of tea before snacking that will help you feel full and hydrated. Sometimes we're not hungry, but just thirsty...
- If bored or upset, change your state of mind! Go for a walk, listen to music or get out of the house/office for a bit of peace. This will refocus your mind away from food and support a healthier option other than snacking.

Don't Throw Salt in My Wound....
Did you know the average adult consumes more than 75% of their salt from foods. This equates to more than 4 grams per day which is too high and can lead to high blood pressure, heart disease and weight gain. Think about that!
The Fix:
- The ideal amount is 1.5 - 2 grams per day since your cells and organs needs it to function
- Use Pink Himalayan Salt which is unprocessed and contains more than 80 minerals & elements
- Try to avoid foods that contain more than 5% of sodium written on the food labels
- Use various spices to flavor your food opposed to shaking on the white table salt
