💥📢Calling all Nanaimo area skaters!!! 🛼🛼 Starting September 3rd, at 7:30 pm at the Harewood Covered Lacrosse Box, we’re offering our Fall season “Learn To Skate“ sessions. Harbour City is a an open-gendered, LGBTQIA2S+ positive, and all-bodies inclusive team. So if you‘re 19+ and interested in learning to roller skate, want to brush up on your skills, or want to know more about roller derby, feel free to come on out!

✨$100 pays for all 10 sessions HCR is offering weekly. ✨

✅Lessons include:

* Safety Instructions
* General skating forwards and backwards
* lessons on how to stop with confidence
* lessons on how to turn around
* lessons on how to jump on skates and land safely
* lessons on crossing-over
* Cross training recommendations
* The basic rules of roller derby
* Some gentle blocking and checking - this is towards the end of LTS when students are more confident, but is not mandatory for any students
* Fun times, and meeting cool people to skate with!

🚫What’s *NOT* included:

* Gear is *NOT* included - so make sure to come with your own skates, elbow and knee pads, wrist guards, helmet, and mouth guard.
* Heavy hitting and blocking, or intense “derby” gameplay - we’re not going to knock down our students while they’re still learning!

Due to the nature of the sport and activity, our instructors are equipped with the tools and skills to teach only those using roller skates. As such, roller blades are not permitted in the Learn to Skate sessions. Keep an eye on our socials for updates and further information!
