when you look up hunting online all you get is people with the biggest and baddest gear, guns, boats, sponsers, and all the time in the world to hunt.

We wanted to create a page where we show what real world hunters do, hence our name "the weekenders"

Shotgun week is over, and an eventful week it was. Opening morning we had a nice 8 point buck come out, shot was made, and by all accounts it looked like a good shot, we had a strong blood trail. But it wasn’t to be, we spent the entire day tracking it, we caught up to it twice and it took off without presenting another shot.
No one ever wants to lose a deer after injuring it, but unfortunately it happens, and it serves as a reminder to only shoot when you are confident in your shot.
The rest of the week we saw lots of deer but never had a shot at any of them, and it wouldn’t be till Thursday that we had the opportunity, taking a buck and a doe 5 minutes apart from each other.
The weekenders has a tradition of naming your kills, and so may I introduce “Willy” and “beans”.
The 2 guys who shot decided to switch it up Friday morning and go duck hunting, and they were on a roll, 4 woodies and limited out on geese.
All in all we all had a great week, had lots of fun and can’t wait until next year.
Thanks for reading!

Tomorrow marks the start of shotgun hunt for deer. Got some pretty good signs, some pics on our cameras, found a couple big scrapes the other day.... sighted in our guns yesterday, got our stands set up, tags printed. Wish us luck !

With all the changes in the moose hunt draw this year we didn’t get any tags. Disappointing that we can’t go moose hunting this year but this also gives us the opportunity to shift gears and focus on the deer shotgun hunt which normally gets overlooked.
Typically moose season is mid to end of October, then deer shotgun week is first of November so most of us can’t get the time off to do both.
Got out to the bush yesterday to put up a couple stands. Built them big enough can bring a lawn chair up and be comfortable for a long time.
