Yesterday we had a very stimulating and insightful Uechi Ryu workshop with Master Darin Yee.

A very interesting and informative seminar last night in North Vancouver, BC presented by Master Darin Yee, President of the IUKF! Although it was a small group it was well received and great fun. We are always up for learning and advancing of study of this wonderful martial art of Uechi Ryu ! A thanks goes out to Barry Gower and his group from Chilliwack and also to Ariela for driving in from Whistler to attend. Looking forward to the next event!

A very enjoyable and enlightening seminar yesterday at the Community Centre on Whidbey Island, Washington hosted by Greg Matinez on the right and Wendy next to Greg and presented by IUKF President Sensei Darin Yee. From left to right :

Congratulations to Barry Gower’s Chilliwack Uechi Ryu Karate team for a successful showing today ! Four ladies all tested successfully. Congratulations to Ali (Yondan),
Teah (Junior Nidan), Ella (Nidan) and Mary (Nidan). It was an honour to be part of the testing board as always.

Here is an early video of Uechi training in Bermuda in the mid 80’s. I had the honour of starting my study of Uechi Ryu karate here at that time under the tutelage of Sensei Al Wharton, whom I consider a good friend and mentor to this day.
