Dryland Swim Tip: Stretch Cords are normally a great way to supplement swim training.
But without being able to actually get in the pool, too much stretch cord work can create bad habits and cause problems with your stroke mechanics.
Without being able to feel the water and maintain your form, you may find over time that stretch cords start to change your movement patterns for the worse.
Use your stretch cords sparingly and focus predominately on exercises that strengthen your core, stabilize your shoulders, and strengthen your primary propulsion muscles (lats).
This is also a great time to work on functional mobility and range of motion.

Since we can't swim, we're putting together some Dryland videos.
As best as possible, they're designed to be done with as little equipment as possible, but some will require basic weights and bands.
Amazon has been selling through Finis Dryland bands like hot cakes, so if you were thinking about picking up a set, now is the time!

It’s difficult when races get cancelled. Some of these events are costly and we spend weeks and months training for them.
While it might seem logical to expect a refund, please consider accepting that there may not be one coming.
The races we participate in have expenses to bear regardless if a race goes forward, and many times the races rely on the revenue in place to function year to year.
It could potentially permanently bankrupt an event if full refunds are given. Ask yourself if you’d rather lose $100 or lose an event altogether?

In the face of a Coronavirus pandemic it’s important for athletes to be smart about their training and racing.
If your races get cancelled, it’s okay.
If pools close, it’s okay.
Exercise can boost the immune system and help reduce the severity of illness. But athletes training hard, doing big volume training with high intensity efforts can have their immune systems suppressed.
Moderate your training, optimize recovery, and prioritize your health over fitness.
We’ll get through this. We’ll get our chance to race. Keep training. Stay positive. Wash your hands. And don’t panic.
