For the rest of the summer we will be training outside, we've always had great luck with the weather!
Practicing a form with eyes closed can be a great exercise to work on balance and spatial awareness without relying on vision or physical markers for positioning.
Yesterday we tested one of the prototypes made by the engineering design class this semester. We wanted to have something to quantify a bit more the quality of a hit on the pad and guide our students. It was super cool!
We will definitely continue playing with it and trying other prototypes the groups made.

Northern Shaolin has 10 traditional empty hand forms, these are the openings of some of the ones we have learned so far.
Another part of Lohan 18 hand 2 person form, it's a great one to train a form and be able to concretely visualize the techniques behind every move.

Jeudi on a vu les prototypes finaux de la classe de conception, c'était incroyable!
Ils ont tellement de créativité et on pouvait vraiment voir qu'ils étaient motivés à résoudre le problème. On applaudit leur effort extraordinaire et on veut les remercier infiniment pour leur aide.
Ce projet va nous aider dans notre pratique de tous les jours et on est impatient d'utiliser leurs créations dans la classe.

On Thursday we saw the final prototypes from the design class, it was incredible!
They have so much creativity and we could really see that they were motivated to solve the problem. We applaud their extraordinary effort and we want to thank them infinitely for their help.
This project will help us in everyday practice and we are impatient to use their creations in class.

Our students are learning new forms or new parts to their forms this week.
Forms always need perseverance and practice to improve and refine.

Cette semaine était la troisième rencontre avec les groupes de conception. Ils nous ont présenté leur mise à jour et leur prototype jusqu'à date. C'était incroyable de voir leur progrès et de voir en vrai des choses qui fonctionnent! Voici quelques images des présentations. Nous attendons impatiemment les résultats finaux!!

Last Saturday we had the privilege of participating in a Lunar New Year celebration with 3 other Kung Fu schools in Ottawa. It was very special and we are so glad to be able to share a bit of our practice while seeing everyone's very cool demos!
