National Capital Highland Games

The Capital Fair proudly presents the National Capital Highland Games will be held on Aug 19th, 2023 in Ottawa at the Rideau Carleton Raceway & Casino, future home of the Hard Rock.

Details will be released over the coming months with info on registration for the highland dance competition, highland athletics competition, pipes & drums display, how to partake as a highland clan/society as well as vendor booths and musical entertainment. Stay tuned but for now, be sure to save the date on your calendar! ☑️

🎶 🍀 On November 27th, the Rideau Carleton Casino in Ottawa is hosting the Cape Breton celtic band called “Coig” at their concert venue called “The Joint” for a fun night of fiddle, guitar and toe tapping music! 🍀 🎶

The Capital Fair and the National Capital Highland Games would like to sincerely thank all of those who helped make the day a success ~ including the weather ☀️! It was definitely a hot one, but the sunshine helped everyone who participated and attended shine. 😉

⭐️ The Reel Ottawa Dance Company for your on stage dance performance with your piper from the Ottawa Police Service Pipe Band it was absolutely stunning and a delight to the crowd!
⭐️ The Cameron Highlanders of Ottawa Duke of Edinburgh's Own for participating all day with a recruitment booth, musical talent from their the pipes and drums as well as a full display on Sunday of the strength training of a tug-of-war. We are excited to continue this partnership of supporting each other in the City of Ottawa for events.
⭐️ The RCMP Pipes, Drums and Dancers: National Division for their all day participation, musical performances and the beautiful showcase of highland dancers.
⭐️ The Ottawa Caledonian Pipes and Drums for their returning performance, showcasing their inclusive band members with a wide range of talent and a crowd pleaser as they performed throughout the Capital Fair grounds.
⭐️ The Clans and Scottish Societies of Canada for their attendance as well as the other distinguished booths representing their cultural heritage. What a wonderful display!
⭐️ ScotlandShop.com for their amazing vendor booth, social media posts and participation in the keg toss!
⭐️ The Glengarry School of Piping and Drumming for your musical display and helping encourage others to learn how to play!
⭐️ To all the youth volunteers collecting those important school volunteer hours… your smiles, hard work and ability to help with any task was greatly appreciated!
⭐️ And we ended our successful day with a live outdoor performance from the MUDMEN which the crowd loved as they danced to the upbeat tunes and drank cold beverages!

The highland dancing competition will be all day long as well as the highland athletics competition! The famous ‘caber toss’ will be showcased at our noontime show ~ a definite must see! 💪

Love the sound of the bagpipes? ❤️ Come see the RCMP pipeband play at the noontime show along with other bands such as the Cameron Highlanders and the Caledonia Pipes & Drums as they entertain all afternoon throughout the fairgrounds! 🥁

⏳ Deadline: Enter by Aug 8th! Do it today!
📢 Tell everyone: But, limited to 120 dancers

✅ Register: Please go to www.NCHG.ca and click on tab in right hand corner called “Registration - Dancer” to download the registration form and waivers. All instructions can be found under payment document of where to send the forms/ waivers & fee.

🤓Please read all of the details and return the completed forms by email to our Athletic Director: John Jans. His contact info can be found on the forms. New to the sport? The Athletic Director can help answer your questions and offer a safety session on 19 August 2022.
