I was just passed a notice from Camp Fortune:

Over the weekends Oct 1-16 and Thanksgiving Monday the NCC will shut down the parkways to Champlain lookout and Pink lake. Cars will be sent to Camp Fortune to park and take a shuttle.

Most action will be between the hours of 10 am and 4 pm. You may of course still come and mtb, but parking lots will be busier than usual and you will be directed to available spots by parking personnel.

It's been a great six years. Rated M Biking has always been a pursuit of passion. I love mountain biking, and wanted to be able to share that passion with people and help grow the sport in Ottawa. I still love mountain biking, and I still want to see it continue to grow in Ottawa, but now it's time for me move my focus elsewhere.

Thank you to all the students, many of whom I now consider friends, who have made the last six years so amazing.

I know I'm preaching to the choir, but big box store bikes just aren't worth the hassle. Last month I watched a neighbour carry his kid's bike while the boy walked behind. Turns out the bike broke on the ride home from school. This was the second time the bike had failed since the bike was bought this summer. Sure the bike only cost $100, but the father had to bring it back to fix assembly errors twice. How much is your time worth to you? Oh, and I haven't seen the little boy riding a bike since.
