๐จ๐ฆ ๐ดโค๏ธ Did you know there are Canadian breeds of horses? One of those breeds being the Newfoundland Pony!
For generations, these hardy ponies were an important part of life in Newfoundland. They helped with transportation, farming, fishing, and hauling supplies. They were true partners in everyday life.
We're so lucky to have our very own Newfoundland pony Grace! She's a barn favorite and absolutely adores her job!

Miss Chocolate Chip Cookie! ๐ช
Do you know what colour she is?
Any guesses?
Cookie is such a lovely mare enjoyed by many adult riders at the farm from beginner to intermediate. She is solid, safe, well trained, has a lovely smooth trot and just so easy to feel confident and safe on while learning.
We love you Cookie ๐

Want to know one of the biggest mistakes riders make?
They spend more time thinking about the canter, jumping, or the lesson itself than they do the warm-up. ๐
Yet the quality of your pre ride routine and warm-up often determines the quality of your entire ride.
Our newest Substack article explores why grooming, groundwork, rider preparation, and helping horses stretch may be the most important minutes you spend at the barn.
Because great rides rarely happen by accident. โจ

Molli loves her bitless bridle! ๐
Every horse is unique. Part of good horsemanship is paying attention to what helps each horse feel comfortable and confident.
Some of our horses happily work bitless, while others prefer going in a bit. Neither option is "better" than the other. The best choice is the one that allows the horse to be the most comfortable while supporting horse and rider communication.
At the end of the day, it's all about understanding the horse in front of you and choosing the equipment that supports their well being and success. Each of our horses have their own tack that's completely personalized to them. ๐ด

We posted baby Chai pictures yesterday when he was with his mom. Now here is pictured at 5 months old.
We purchased him sight unseen, the sellers are great. However the trailering that had been hired was notโฆ. They crammed the foals into the trailer and somewhere in the 2 day journey he had experienced serious trauma as a result a very serious displaced fractured jaw.
He arrived as an unhandled weanling. $600 purchase price was tuned into 15k the day he arrived to the ranch.
He had a large open fracture the jaw bone was sticking into his mouth, on the other side the back of the mandible was broken. In total his jaw was broken in 3 places.
It was either rush to St Hyacinth Equine Hospital in MTL for surgery or euthanasia.
So we did what we had to do to save his life and with significant investment, daily bandages changes, plate with screws and wired jaw that required 2 surgeries 3 months apart, he spent 6 months on stall rest and living on mash fed around the clock, with short daily hand walks multiple times a day.
This adorable little guy went quickly from a scared unhandled baby, to a sweet, affectionate, well handed weanling.
He went though a lot. Through everything he was never afraid to get on a trailer. Itโs incredible how forgiving and resilient horses can be.
But this sweet little guy never gave up, he loves life, loves people, and is playful in the paddock.
Today heโs now 5 years old, and is part of our program. ๐
