U21 Ekwa Peyak Basketball Team

Update on our progress in the BSI Club Championship Tournament! We are 3-0 and scheduled to play in the semi-final tomorrow at 12:30pm at the University of Regina. The team’s chemistry is evidently progressing and we could not be more proud of these boys! Our player of the game was Adim against Estevan Club Basketball and Emery facing Green Wave United.

We had the pleasure of meeting a lot of talented players which made this decision difficult. A big thank you to everyone who showed up! Our players have demonstrated excellent group dynamic, skill set and attitude on the court.

Come out to support us as we compete in our first tournament this weekend in the BSI Club Championships!

If you missed our first tryout and would still like to be apart of our program you are welcome to attend our final tryout session this Friday from 6:00-9:00pm. Our roster will be finalized within the following week. See you there! 🦌

Get ready! We are hosting U17 basketball tryouts for our Ekwa Peyak team this Saturday (May 10th) from 1:00-3:00pm at the Mâmawêyatitân Centre. Tryouts are open - meaning any male is eligible to tryout. We are looking for dedicated, hard-working players and are looking forward to seeing you guys come out!

Ekwa Peyak is back this time as a Male U17 (Open) Club Basketball Team with Coaches William Pinacie (Team Sask NAIG, CADA Prep) and Tayten LaPierre (3 years Coaching) to give back to the basketball community and help the youth better understand First Nations Culture through sport mentorship. If you are interested in advancing your game send us a direct message for more info. (This is an Open team, meaning you do not need to be First Nations)

Our Ekwa boys come second place falling to Grey Horse 68-41 at the Alberta Indigenous Games. They played hard throughout the whole tournament going undefeated till the finals. These boys have really improved since last year. Coming from not winning a single game last year to making it all the way to the finals. Props to them for their hard work on and off the court.
