Founded in 1911, Strathcona Provincial Park is the oldest provincial park in British Columbia and the largest on Vancouver Island.

Known for its lakes, waterfalls, and glaciers, the park is a popular destination for hikers, climbers, swimmers and paddlers.

The park is home to spectacular Della Falls which, at 440 m in height, is widely considered the highest waterfall in Canada.

The Golden Hinde in Strathcona park, is the highest peak of the Vancouver Island mountain ranges towering at 2,195 m.

Sooke Potholes Provincial Park is a series of deep, polished rock pools and potholes carved naturally during the last ice age 15,000 years ago.

Moving, melting ice packs stripped the surface area and huge boulders carved a path deep into the natural bedrock consequently carving out the potholes that can be seen today.

The water is exceptionally clean and clear, providing a an amazing spot for swimming, picnicking and camping during the summer months.

This area is a favourite day-use destination for many locals so make sure you plan ahead to get your perfect spot along the river

Mount Arrowsmith is the tallest and most popular mountain to climb on Vancouver Island south of Strathcona Park.

Rising 1,819 meters above sea level, the mountain is contained in a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and is part of 1,300 hectare Mt. Arrowsmith Massif Regional Park.

As for day hiking, Judges Route (6hr / 5.8km round trip) is one of the most direct and can be a steep grind up the west face of the mountain. But the 360 view is well worth the suffering πŸ‘ŒπŸ½
