Cumberland Park dry storm pond
The new dry storm pond in Cumberland Park is now ready to help prevent flooding for properties in the area if an intense rain event is to occur this summer. All underground infrastructure is complete, in service, and is ready to take on a substantial amount of storm water in the event of a heavy rainfall. Rather than pooling on the streets and seeping into nearby basements, storm water will now flow into the dry storm pond before it slowly drains into the storm water system.
In the meantime, Cumberland Park remains closed to allow the landscape contractor to finish the remaining work in the park, including completion of the irrigation and sod, and establishment maintenance of the sod and new trees. Signage has been placed on the fence surrounding the dry storm pond and park to remind residents to avoid entering the enclosed space for this reason.
The remaining landscape construction in Cumberland Park, including remaining grading, sodding, and pathway installation, is currently anticipated to be completed by Summer 2026, with the park remaining closed to the public while the new landscaping is established until Summer 2027.
