“How much sleep does my baby actually need?”

If you’ve ever found yourself Googling this at 2am with a baby on your chest… you’re not alone.

The truth is, baby sleep isn’t one-size-fits-all. Figuring out how much sleep a baby needs isn’t just about numbers—it’s about understanding your baby’s developmental stage, biology, and cues. Here are the key steps to guide you:

1. Know the General Sleep Ranges by Age.
👉🏻 Use developmental guidelines as a starting point:
0–3 months: 14–17 hours in 24 hrs (including day/night confusion)
4–6 months: 12–16 hours (with 3–4 naps)
7–12 months: 12–15 hours (2–3 naps)
1–2 years: 11–14 hours (usually 1 nap)
These are ranges, not rigid rules.

2. Track Your Baby’s Sleep Over 3–5 Days
👉🏻Write down:
When they sleep and wake
Nap lengths
Overnight stretches
Signs of tiredness vs. overtiredness
This helps you spot patterns and total sleep time.

3. Observe Baby’s Behavior, Not Just the Clock
👉🏻Are they:
Happy and alert when awake?
Fussing or resisting naps/bedtime?
Waking frequently at night?
Sleep quality and timing matter more than hitting exact hour goals.

4. Adjust Based on Their Age + Cues
👉🏻If your baby seems overtired, gradually shift bedtime earlier or add rest opportunities. Some babies thrive with more than the “average”—others with less.

5. Use a Flexible Routine (Not a Rigid Schedule)
👉🏻Babies aren’t robots. Especially in the first year, they need rhythm—not strict clocks. Anchoring the day with consistent wake, nap, and bedtime windows can help.

If you’re feeling confused, overwhelmed, or just need someone to break it down with compassion and facts…

🚨✨EXCITING NEWS✨🚨

It’s been quiet… so quiet on here for over a year now.

Being a mom and running a business is HARD.

Accepting that your last baby is indeed your last is HARD.

Finding yourself again postpartum is hard.

But for me? The most excruciating was learning to accept that every waking minute that I spent taking in my last ever newborn moments would never be something I get to experience again.

PPA/PPD, hormonal shifts, adjusting to being a mom of 2, running a business, and dealing with the punches life threw my way had me pushing my business aside and ultimately putting it on hold completely. I needed to focus on myself and my own mental health while taking a step back.

But now, I’m back. I finally feel like a weight has been lifted off my chest and that I have a grasp on my life again. I am finally ready to start connecting with and helping mamas again… and man am I excited!

I will officially be re-launching my business on March 18th, so keep an eye out for an exciting announcement that you won’t want to miss! 💃🏻

I can’t wait to start connecting with all you mamas again, I’ve missed this community! 💜

Brew the coffee and prepare for a day at home in your pjs, it’s been a night!

If you are feeling like that, you definitely aren’t alone. Here’s 4 ways you can reset after a rough night (or a couple 😵‍💫):

👉🏻 down a glass of H2O, have a hardy breakfast, and THEN enjoy that cup of joe. Jumping straight to the caffeine does nothing but mess with your blood sugar control.

👉🏻 soak in some vitamin D! We all know that it’s amazing for us, but it also helps boost your mood and tell your body that it’s morning time.

👉🏻 call on your village. These times are HARD and leaning on people to help lessen the load or just listen to your struggles can help immensely.

👉🏻 do something for yourself. It doesn’t have to be elaborate, even just something as simple as changing out of your pjs can make you feel better and more human.

What do you find helps you to get through the sleepless, rough patches with your baby? Let me know in the comments!
