It's been a minute since we shared. LEOs and Friends at Best of the Rest!

The League of Extraordinary Officials is heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Meow Kapow (Wendy R Whitlock). Meow was one of the original Michigan NSOs, a linchpin of the derby community, and one of the best damned jam timers there ever was. You never had to worry about shenanigans with the game clock when she wore the whistle – it was taken care of. Although she didn't spend as much time on the tournament circuit as some of us, the people in the know were aware how great she was. One example: at Quad City Chaos 2015, Brawls was accosted by legendary refs demanding to know where the hell we had been hiding Meow Kapow.

Meow’s life wasn’t easy. She had to overcome more than her share of demons, and did so with grace and a defiant no-BS attitude. Tough, sarcastic, loyal, and ready to tell you when you were being an ass, she could also be sweet, vulnerable, and ready to offer help or ask for it. Meow was a true friend, and we loved her. Rest in peace, dear friend.
