What in the world does physical literacy even mean!?

In a nutshell physical literacy is a kids ability to use their body effectively and safely in various physical activities. We all know movement is crucial for young children, building their confidence to move and perform in different ways will ensure they continue to love being active as they grow older- no matter what sport or activity they choose!

It's not rocket science, keep it simple and have fun hopping, galloping, tip toe-ing (to name a few) and nurturing your little one's goofy side by joining in. Everyone knows doing things is more fun with a friend!

Greetings everyone 👋 I'm Ali, the enthusiastic Director of HappyFeet SK!

My passion lies in coaching and making magic happen with our little ones. By day, I'm a Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant, as well as a busy wife and mom of two kiddos ages 2 and 4. I truly believe that my professional experience enhances the HappyFeet coaching experience.

There's nothing I love more than welcoming both familiar and new faces. Can't wait to connect with each one of you soon!

HappyFeet Instructor for Ages 2-5

HappyFeet is a physical activity program for children ages 2-6.

We focus on developing coordination, balance and confidence while playing games and activities using a soccer ball and our curriculum based methods. Please watch the video at www.HappyFeetSask.ca to learn more about HappyFeet and to see it in action!

HappyFeet coaches possess the following characteristics:

-Energetic (You're working with 2-6 year olds so your energy is contagious!)
-Confident (You're leading a group of 10-12 little ones so the ability to manage all these little people requires confidence and assertiveness. It's also important that you're comfortable interacting with parents)
-Reliable/Responsible, (The expectation is that coaches are able to attend all 6 of their sessions within a block of classes, substitute coaches are available but take away from the personal connection if the coach is constantly absent)
-Prior experience with young children (preferably in a similar environment. Ex. Swimming instructor, gymnastics, summer camps, etc. )

Individuals with Kinesiology, Education or early childhood education backgrounds will be given first preference. No soccer knowledge is required, although it's an asset.

This is a casual position working 2-6 hours/week during evenings and weekends at $15.00/hr. Classes are typically offered from 5:30pm-7:30pm during the week. We are looking for individuals to start training February/March and then coaching on their own by April/May.

If you are interested in this position, please attach a short half page summary describing your previous experiences working with this age group, as well as an explanation as to why you would be a great HappyFeet Coach.
