HISTORY. ๐Ÿ†โค๏ธ๐Ÿงก๐Ÿ–ค

Our 15U team brought home the FIRST championship in Stutter Steps Hoop Club history this weekend at the Premier Prairie Classic tournament in Moose Jaw, SK.

Two seasons in the making. Earned, not given.

A lot of these boys were part of the early days of our club. Tough losses. Blowouts. Winless tournaments. Long weekends where things did not go our way at all. But they stayed with it. They kept showing up. They kept working.

And this weekend, they finally got rewarded for it.

Down to just 7 players all tournament long, our boys battled through adversity and found a way to earn GOLD.

This championship is special because every player has a different story behind it. Some have been through the struggles with us since last season. Some are brand new to the club and bought into the culture right away. One only gets to play with us once a year because he lives out of town. But this weekend, they came together as one team and made history together.

We are incredibly proud of this group.

And while the championship was the highlight, we are equally proud of the fight shown by our 17U and Open HS teams all weekend long. Both teams dealt with adversity in different ways, but continued to compete, stay together, and represent the club the right way.

That final Open HS game especially showed what our culture is about. Emotions were high, things got heated, but our players, parents, and supporters stayed composed and stuck to our standards. That growth matters.

Thank you to everyone who supported us through the crazy weather, long days, and emotional weekend.

This is a special moment for our small basketball club. More work ahead, but first ones will always mean something different.

Congratulations to the Stutter Step Hoop Club for claiming the GOLD in the 15 Boys Silver Division. Finishing in 2nd place was the Saskatoon Shadow.

Strong weekend for Stutter Steps Basketball in Prince Albert. ๐Ÿ€

Both our 15U and Open HS teams finished 3-1 at the Thunder Tournament, with both losses coming against the eventual champions in their respective divisions. Proud of the way our players competed and represented the program all weekend.

But beyond basketball, this trip was also a reminder of what this club is about.

From players helping tutor each other and keeping up with schoolwork between games, to teammates stepping up so another player could make the trip, this weekend showed the kind of culture weโ€™re continuing to build at Stutter Steps.

Team chemistry continues to grow, and itโ€™s been great seeing how much these players genuinely enjoy being around and playing for each other.

We also want to wish a speedy recovery to one of our team captains after an unfortunate injury during the tournament. ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿฝ

On to Moose Jaw next for the Premier Prairie Classic!

Trending up ๐Ÿ“ˆ

Decent showing at this yearโ€™s Prairie Season Opener.

- 15U finished 2-2 and right in the middle of the pack. Good flashes, good lessons, and plenty to build on.

- 18U finished 1-3, but ended the weekend with a strong response against the same team that blew us out the first time. That matters. Growth isnโ€™t always in the record. Sometimes itโ€™s in the response.

Not where we want to be yet, but definitely moving in the right direction.

Back to work and looking forward to the tournament on May 8-10.

Day 4 ๐ŸŽฅ and what a way to close this year's

โ€œGive the man a fish and heโ€™ll eat for a dayโ€ฆ teach the man how to fish and heโ€™ll eat for a lifetime.โ€ ๐Ÿ“

Massive respect to every player who showed up ready to learn a different way of hooping. One that's built on concepts, principles, reads, and decisions, not just copying plays. That takes humility, curiosity, patience, and maturity. These same things translate off the floor too.

You guys took on the challenge. You asked questions, made mistakes, adjusted, and kept trying. Thatโ€™s the work. Thatโ€™s development.

Huge thanks to Marvinโ€™s Home of the best Siopao for the unsolicited support and for feeding the crew on Day 4 โ€” siopao + siomai to finish camp the right way. Community matters.
