Climbing the podium after climbing all the hills on the Thunder Bay course wasn't easy! But the SSM crew enjoyed the beautiful drive, the rugged terrain, and a really tough course.
Shane & the Lakehead Archers crew put on a great shoot, and we enjoyed laughs and groans with shooters from all over the province. Lochlyn achieved massive improvements since her last 3D Championship, handily taking the gold in her age category and joining the small handful of archers who scored above 700 this weekend.

This father's day, we headed to the beautiful Nottingham North 3-D range on St Joseph's Island. The kids especially had a great time hiking through the bush and taking their best poke at foam warthogs, grizzlies, giant snakes, and jack-a-lopes.
Estimating the distance to the target and compensating for the trajectory is a great challenge. Even finding your footing on challenging terrain is part of the fun.
We're blessed to have great 3-D courses in our area. Between Nottingham, the Thessalon Rod & Gun, Sault North Archery Club, and Algoma Rod & Gun, there's heaps of opportunity to try this game.

Know a highschooler who should try archery? We love bringing archery to the schools, like we just did at Echoes-des-Rapides. Highschool students (and grade 8s) can start training now for the teams heading to the Ontario championships next year - we have an Intro to Archery night this Sunday. "Remember when I had to take a walk to collect my arrows?"
The road to the bullseye started off a bit rocky for our friend Diamyn. Hyper-mobile joints make this sport, with its focus on balance and stability, a challenge. The "standard" forms and techniques lead to arrows landing in mysterious places.
But with tenacity & creativity, Diamyn stuck with it and found ways to make it work.
Strength improved.
Pain-free shooting created huge smiles.
And now? If she wants to pierce a shiny shamrock on St. Paddy's Day, she can! Over and over. What about putting all the arrows in the scoring rings? No problem!
We're so stoked, and so happy to share the range with you, Diamyn! Well done!!!
