If you missed the announcement by Cole Sorenson on tonight's Upside feature, Shockwave Seats will be returning as the title sponsor of this year's Reg Midgley Canada 200 Aug. 23rd-24th at Saratoga Speedway!

Shockwave and Shockwave Motorsports have a rich history in racing, with founder David Smith putting his knowledge of building race winning cars for the likes of Roy Smith, Gary Kershaw, Roy Haslam and more into the technology behind every Shockwave Seat.

Shockwave was the presenting sponsor for the Canada 200 from 2018 to 2023, with Speedway Motorsports Management and Saratoga Speedway happy to have Smith and his team return as the presenting sponsor for Western Canada's most prestigious Stock Car race.

75 years young- Smith has an amazing story & we feel honored to share it:

I returned to auto racing after overcoming what was supposed to be terminal cancer. In the past, I built cars for racers like Herschel McGriff and Roy Smith in the Winston West series during the 1970s and 80s.

One of the best parts of being back in racing at the age of 75 is the opportunity to inspire others my age. The Tri-Cities track is challenging—rough and worn out, making it very difficult to find the right groove. I have immense respect for the old racers who had to deal with cars that lacked power steering and were quite heavy.

Today, we have it so much easier. I run Shockwave Motorsports as a hobby and a passion, and my company, Shockwave Seats, specializes in building marine suspension seating. Without a doubt, we have the best crew in ARCA—my team is truly awesome!
