πββοΈ MEET THE TEAM: ELLA π¦π
Meet Ella! At 13, sheβs heading into her 5th season with the Hammerheads and is part of our Gold Development group!
When Ella was younger, her favourite part of swimming was her coach β shoutout to Coach Kay! As sheβs gotten older, that love has shifted to competing at swim meets β the energy on deck, cheering on her teammates, and getting behind the blocks to see if she can beat her last time.
Last season, Ella discovered something else she lovesβ¦ distance swimming! She took on her first 400m and 800m races and proved sheβs always up for a challenge.
β Favourite part of meets: The energy, her teammates & chasing a new best time
π Newest challenge: Long-distance racing
π¬ Advice for younger swimmers: Listen to your coaches β practices become way more fun!
We canβt wait to see what Ella takes on in season FIVE! π¦π₯

πββοΈ MEET COACH PHIL! π¦
Coach Philβs history with the Hammerheads goes all the way back to 1995, when he first joined the club as a volunteer coach!
At the time, the Hammerheads were a recreational program, but as the club grew, a competitive team was created for more advanced swimmers β with Phil stepping in to coach them.
In 2000, Phil became Head Coach of the Hammerheads, a role he held until retiring from coaching in 2013.
Now, more than 30 years after he first joined the club, Coach Phil is back on deck! ππ Heβll be volunteering again this season as an assistant coach with our Pre-Competitive, Intro to Stroke and Stroke Development programs.
Weβre incredibly fortunate to have Phil sharing his years of swimming and coaching knowledge with the next generation of Hammerheads. We appreciate him giving his time and expertise back to the club and are so excited to have him on deck for another great season!
Welcome back, Coach Phil! π¦πββοΈ
π¦ MEET COLTON! π¦
Heading into his 3rd year with the Hammerheads, Colton is part of our Gold Development group and is a great example of how the work swimmers put in at the pool can carry over into other sports too. πͺ
Colton credits swim team with helping him build the strength and athleticism to make the jump from house league baseball to a rep team last season! βΎοΈπββοΈ
We asked Colton a few quick questions:
π Favourite event: 200m Backstroke
π Favourite swim memory: The pantyhose drill last season
π Favourite part of swimming: Having fun with his teammates
πͺ Advice for new swimmers: Always give 110%.
We can't wait to see what Colton accomplishes in the pool β and beyond β this season!
Want to see what swim team could do for your athlete? Come give the Hammerheads a try! π¦π

Swimming is kind of chic. π
πββοΈ
Itβs kind of chic to hang out with your friends before school.
Itβs kind of chic to spend your weekends at a meet.
Itβs kind of chic to mentor the next generation of swimmers.
Itβs kind of chic to twin with your teammates.
And itβs definitely kind of chic to be a Hammerhead. π¦β¨
Join the fun this season!
How our swimmers feel knowing the season is just one month away!!
Back to school back to pool! The 2026-2027 swim season begins Tuesday September 8th! Questions about swim team? Send me a message.
Not every path looks the same. Different lane. Different journey. Same love for the sport.
Being one of the few boys on a swim team is something to be proud of. It means finding your place, building confidence, and showing up as yourself every single day.
There's no rush to the finish line. It's about challenging yourself, chasing your goals, and becoming better than you were yesterday.
Your lane. Your goals. Your race.
